The mix may change (love this one) but hurtful truth of unrequited love does not. One is left to wondering which is worse, unrequited love or love requited and later rejected?

Das melodische Material kreist hier um ein Thema, das mit den Posaunen zu Beginn des Stückes vorgetragen wird, eine Motivgruppe, die ganz am Anfang in den tiefen Streichern erscheint und zuletzt ein einfaches eintaktiges Motiv, das in Varianten mal hier, mal dort präsent ist. Der Reiz des Stückes wird hauptsächlich durch den Tonartwechsel von Des-Dur zu d-moll und am Ende D-Dur ausgefüllt werden. Damit sollte sich die dunkle, bedrohliche Stimmung zum Ende machtvoll auflösen.
Die Instrumentation hat für mich Schaustückcharakter. Ich denke, sie wird ansprechen.
