The lyrics seem to be about my general aversion toward the momentous amount of shitty events that took place in 2020.  Perhaps a psychoanalyst would see even more in them. The lyrics are a bit esoteric.  My sub-conscious was definitely spewing on this one.  I kneaded the words and phrases against the texture and flow of the driving pulse of the  musical content. What emerged is something special. A real rocker!  The song slowly builds, creating an incredible sonic vibe with many subtle aural sweet spots.

Ben Ruhl is a musician and recording artist. After 13 years drumming with Blue Man Group, he now records music from his home studio, enjoys collaborating with other artists, and is a member of the band The Orbit Place.

New album Audio/Visual is now available exclusively on SC and BandCamp, featuring my favorite tracks from 2024-25. Releases to Spotify and other platforms on September 30th!

My genre influences include electronic, downtempo, lofi, experimental, rock, blues, indie, prog, post rock, ambient, synthwave, trip hop, and hip hop. 

My recent tunes are produced using Ableton Live, FabFilter suite plugins, and often feature synths like Pigments, Microfreak, and Minilogue XD. I'm also beginning to incorporate guitar a lot more!

I love the sounds of the 60s and 70s especially. I try to write songs that I would enjoy listening to myself. It’s the only gauge I have. My songs are just the sum total of all my positive listening experiences. I'll let you try to guess who they are!
