As Halloween approaches, my next song offering will take the listener on a magical sonic journey into a phantasmagoric past. Close your eyes and put out your hands, you have just received the Duke's invitation to visit the mysterious estate of Bridgerdoom of Brigadoon. Out of the foggy bogs of the western marshes approaches a lantern lit horse carriage with a black tuxedoed driver in a tall top hat. He beckons you to step aboard and suggests it is best if you strap in tightly. 

This piece was created all "in the box" so it is fairly synth heavy and electronic.  It formed up mostly through creative playing around on my Ableton Live Push for percussive rhythms and using my Kurzweil Synth for attempts at more organic and melodic features.  Suffice to say the song grew out of mostly creative layering of sounds and rhythms until something clicked and I went into "the zone" musically.  

Word of caution, everything may not be quite as refined as it first seems within this awaiting castle of opulence and restraint. The music will spin you into a world full of court intrigue, ball rooms, perfumes, potions, colorful gowns, operatic drama, side long glances and steamy ribald ghostly romance.  Enjoy the ride. There are plenty of curves and bumps to this adventure. 

I experimented with arpeggiated sounds using controlled randomness (if that makes any sense). Ableton Live has several cool new tools in their latest S/W version to enable this.  I also played with samples and sample friendly plug-ins. I was on a steep learning curve at that time into the art of slicing, chopping and transposing sounds. I know this can get boring for those not interested in the weeds of production so I will stop now : )    


No one ever said true love was easy. The movie sound-track adaptation may be hitting Netflix or a Hall Mark Movie Channel any day now. Disclaimer: If you actually can't hear the storyline I have relayed you may also have to apply a sprig of your own active imagination too.  Good Luck.

So, the song called Ghosts of Bridgerdoom was formed and is now presented to you for your own ghostly entertainment.   As usual, it was a blast to create.  The reason why I worked on this work this time is because I want to sing and play with everyone.Therefore, I prepared a simple sheet music with lyrics and chords. There is a link above.

This work is probably one of the "protest songs". If I were to compare it to John Lennon's work, I think it would be "Give Peace A Chance." Yes, there are gems that confront discrimination, oppression, and prejudice, denounce injustice, and sing against war, and this is one of them. And not just to protest, but to sing together to "express your determination, clarify your way of life, question society, and lead to reform".

When winkandwoo released this work, I thought he was a great vocalist, singing a lot of important things and weights in the lyrics of "No need for guns, no need to fight".

And now many lament: "Ukraine is my country. Russia is my country. The country is killing my country." Hundreds of thousands of people have been forced from their homes, saying most people crossing the border from Russia don't want to kill people and don't want to serve this government. There is a movement to stigmatize this movement by branding it as a "traitor" and to use public power to contain it. I think protest songs play an active role here. Their lives and livelihoods are with us.

I hope that this song will help mankind break away from the "gun society" where mass shootings occur frequently, and that it will help all those who refuse military service in Russia. And I hope that this song will help unite Russian citizens against the invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops and all citizens who support the Russian Revolutionary Movement.

Random Sightings - IPG1 & Paploviante Collab

Phil McC (aka Waveology)is a talented keyboard player, and he offered this piano improvisation for me to engage with a melody and lyric. Although Phil went on to experiment with a band arrangement (https://soundcloud.com/philmcc-1/place-i-go-ft-terry-wigmore-jazz-orchestra-arrangement), I was always partial to the piano's simplicity and the space it afforded the vocal to sit in an imagined lounge, and that was the sound that inspired the lyrics.  So, with the last breath of autumn, it seemed to be a fitting time for a melancholic muse in Phil's lounge, a darkened room, a half consumed whisky (Crown Royal) in one hand, a mic in the other, cue the music, Phil...

The lyrics seem to be about my general aversion toward the momentous amount of shitty events that took place in 2020.  Perhaps a psychoanalyst would see even more in them. The lyrics are a bit esoteric.  My sub-conscious was definitely spewing on this one.  I kneaded the words and phrases against the texture and flow of the driving pulse of the  musical content. What emerged is something special. A real rocker!  The song slowly builds, creating an incredible sonic vibe with many subtle aural sweet spots.

Another composition recorded before the war. I hope one day I will return to my home studio. Any support from you is much appreciated on these extremely hard times for our country, our family. 
I could have recorded much new music for the last 9 months... unless russians came to our yard to "save" us with their tanks, missiles, bombs and war planes at 4 a.m. on Feb 24th. And yes, they saved us from our house, from our normal life, from our dreams and plans. They saved my elderly parents from their home and peaceful life in retiring, saved my daughter from happy childhood, from school, from her friends and vacation by the sea.
