hearing this thanks to Bruce's repost;  so glad you shared insight into your process David!!  I do the "automatic verbalizing" too, and often it seems like the words end up revealing themselves to me rather than me making them up.  I can definitely relate to the "what is this crap anyway?" phase with some tunes : )

Like so many of your tunes there such tasty chord progressions mapped out in fat synths n bass that make them so satisfying to listen to!

this must be where you stitched the tunes?  it sounds organic though as a B mood to part A

This time, I played one of Led Zeppelin's signature songs, "Stairway to Heaven," on a nylon string electric acoustic guitar.
This song is included on Led Zeppelin's fourth album. The album sold over 29 million copies worldwide and was certified platinum in the United States.
Like all guitarists who consider themselves avid Led Zeppelin fans, I love this song and often play it lightly when tuning my guitar. I omitted the effect processing and simply adjusted the volume and uploaded it. I noticed that it sounded more boosted than when recording the chord strokes in the second half. Since it's a Led Zeppelin piece, I thought it might not be a bad idea to listen to it in this condition.
Personally, I hope that everyone can feel that the nylon strings (end type) that come with the two electric acoustic guitars fit perfectly into the guitar itself.
Winter is over in Japan, and we are about to enter the spring season, but I chose this piece as the final part of this winter's nylon string solo performance series. After this, I'm starting to look forward to the possibility of using a nylon string guitar to complete some of the collaborative pieces that I've been unable to complete.

(KARAOKE) Enigma - Retrun To Innocence

Well, let’s see…. Glad you dropped by because you get to listen to some dobro, on a new, very different version of ‘By The Sea’. https://soundcloud.com/lammbone/living-by-the-sea . When I first penned out the lyrics, there was so much going on thematically. ‘Alligator’ adds some of the original lyrics that were left out first time around as the saga continues. I had melded together experiences from my 67 years of living by cherry picking events and blending them into a singular situation, which would have make for a long song in its totality, that by nature, I shy away from, unless I am jamming. Haha. What does this all mean? First off, as an old man who finds himself reminiscing and daydreaming, there are some cathartic moments to be had in hindsight of one’s life. Looking back momentarily in the rearview is a prudent way to temper the trajectory of one’s life, especially if it has been a rocky road. Another facet of this is a personal extrication from a life one has been living, to find another way more suitable to one’s existence. In other words, the changes we make in our life to survive. There is also some grief and regret, that melt away over time. So maybe several more songs are on the horizon that elaborate on these experiences and what they mean to me. Hope you like this song. Smiling Alligator... A Reprise Of 'By The Sea'

Friends, 

 It all began with small tendrils of a verse melody repeating endlessly through my mind. A distinctive tone that stands out on top is a synth sound called "Swaggering Around". I liked it. It is a major anchor throughout the song.  It does not sound like much on its own but you have to use your imagination in this process.      

I played around with this pattern for several frustrating weeks (this is typical of my creation process...a lot of time in a sort of limbo land of uncertainty).   The creation process ALWAYS  starts slow and tentative.  It seems I sometimes forget everything I have learned and I get stuck in a land of "small" mind. Nothing sounds fresh. In this case my lack of progress forced me to move on to another song project altogether, at least for awhile.

I reluctantly (at first) returned to the song.   I decided to piece together two song ideas.    This pattern found a home as my chorus or perhaps it's really a song bridge ..not sure.   You see…it is a chorus that never repeats.  It is only played once the entire song.   

The song came alive again for me when I found some free time to play with the melody and adding interesting voice harmonies.  I spent a huge amount of time just humming non sensical words at the rhythm.  The words and phrases then began to emerge as I repeated the patterns many, many times and felt grooves that sat with the music right (at least to my ears).      I had a lot of fun taking harmonies way higher than my comfort zone in terms of register.  After this is when the song took off and when all engines start firing for me. This is when I go into a sort of hyperdrive of recording and laying down tracks.    The final stage is mixing and pre-mastering which is a process I wish I had more expertise at but that I love learning about and improving at.

As an aside; I received some free samples  and decided to use them in this song but sparingly.  They are far down in the mix and not "musical" at all.  They give the the song extra sheen, body and character by adding strange percussive breathy sounds (whale-like) and other reverberish oddities.  Probably hard to hear but I know they are present in the mix ; ). 

The guitarish sounding patterns, echoes and synth buildups layer together to give the song a dream-like character that is hard for me to describe but I guess I don’t have to…just go and listen to the music.
