First Voice Media is building a lasting institution for women, people of color, and under-resourced communities to learn media skills and gain access to radio as a means of empowerment using mass communications and art.

Members of First Voice Media produce, write, host, and engineer Full Circle, a cultural affairs radio magazine which showcases personal views, interviews, feature stories, and live performances from our community. Airing on Friday at 7pm on KPFA 94.1, all content comes from members of First Voice Media and reaches all across northern and central California.

I'm a California musician born in Santa Maria, raised in Orcutt, relocated to San Francisco and Castro Valley, before finding home in Concord.  Through various bands, projects, and solo work over the years, I've performed in Hollywood, Santa Barbara, Goleta, Orcutt, Santa Maria, Nipomo, Pismo Beach, Los Osos, San Luis Obispo, Clayton, Concord, Martinez, & Benicia.  These days, live performances are much more infrequent, as I focus more on creating completed works to share with the world, one EP at a time.  

My first widely released work is 2018's Keep Doing, which is available at all online music stores and streaming services except for Amazon for ethical reason.

V B M have a sound that encompasses not only traditional guitar and drums, but also analog and modular synthesizers. Couple that with harmonic vocals, some moments of the duo's music are reminiscent of 80's synth-pop, while other aspects are akin to a style that is completely and uniquely their own.

Neil Hagge is a musician and songwriter from the San Francisco Bay Area. His music has been featured on MTV, NCIS, Live 105 Soundcheck, KROQ, and the DIY Network. He has opened for The Vandals, Nerf Herder, Y&T, Alien Ant Farm, and P.O.D. He has also performed at the Uproar Festival and at venues such as Slim's, Bottom Of The Hill, DNA Lounge, El Corazon, 924 Gillman Street, Chain Reaction, The Mint LA, and The Viper Room.

Joe Hickey is a teacher-by-day/rockstar-by-night, moving audiences in the SF Bay Area since 2003.  

To his solo music, he brings a love for unusual imagery and stark honesty, and marries it to folk, rock and pop influences ranging from Ani DiFranco to Jethro Tull to Fiona Apple to Gentle Giant to Jeff Buckley, drizzling his pleading but powerful tenor voice all over that potent mixture.  

Here you will find a selection of his self-produced and live recordings from the last 15 years, along with his 2017 year-end songwriting podcast, "Inside the Cracks", where he shares stories and thoughts about his debut studio EP, "All the Submicroscopic Cracks", released that January.

Along with his solo work, Joe is a prolific collaborator, bringing his multi-instrumental flexibility and blended harmonies to many groups since his move out West.  Most notably, he has been his buddy, Jacob Wolkenhauer's "special sauce" since 2007, played over 100 shows with the Grace Woods Trio from 2006-09, anchored the Hangover Brigade rhythm section from 2012-14 and lived out his proggy dreams playing with Vigilis from 2014-17.  He has also appeared as a guest musician on albums by Tim Corrigan and The Luinissinfes.  Selected tracks from all of these collaborations are available here as well!

He is available to lend his bass, guitar, vocal, flute and percussion talents to YOUR project... assuming you're close to San Lorenzo, CA, and not looking to tour :)
