Olde Skool

Korea Town Acid is the moniker of Jessica Cho; an outlet for her multi-faceted work which draws on her classically trained background but with a futuristic and experimental outlook.

Born in Seoul and now based in Toronto, KTA's entry into music came early when her mother signed her up for piano lessons. Her movements in electronic music came much later, though these formative skills still remain intact, helping her carve out a distinctive sound that pulls from jungle, glitch, future bass, alternative hip hop and IDM.

These tastes ring through her DJ sets and radio shows too. You can hear her soundtracking the airwaves each month on The Lot Radio, as well as via her new monthly transmission on HKCR called 'Coping Mechanisms' which hones in on abstract and experimental sounds.

With a mini LP under her belt for Cosmic Resonance back in 2018, she's recently levelled up for her debut full length 'Metamorphosis', so we felt there was no better time to invite her to bring the goods for this week's Ransom Note mix...

As you can imagine, Broom’s gathered quite a collection since those heady days, from which he draws a selection of gems for this mix.

34 years ago, "the man like" DJ Sasha played his regular Saturday night slot at The Eclipse in Coventry. what no-one knew was the recording would go on to be renowned as one of the most iconic sets ever, still being mentioned and played all over the world. I still play the set at least once a week, as its my personal fave.
For this mix, i have taken the exact tunes used by Sasha on the night and rearranged them into a new sequence. Hope you enjoy listening, as much as i did creating.......

For this mix, i've taken the exact same tracks Ratty dropped on the 1's & 2's, re-arranged them into a new order to make this mix. I hope you enjoy this version as much as the original.....

Hi, i'm Dave, from Coventry, and i started djing way back in 1990, while still at school, inspired by legends Sasha and Carl Cox after listening to sets, given to me from older friends!

 I spent a lot of my time during the early 90's at the legendary club Eclipse, in Coventry, where i met lots of fantastic people including some of the finest dj's around at the time, doing a couple of sets in Marco Polo, Birmingham. I also ventured across the midlands, clubbing wise, to places including Shelleys, Institute and Coast 2 Coast.

 After 5 years, i fell out of love with the scene, seeing as it was changing and not to my liking, to be honest and in 1995 i gave up raving and djing. Kept my vinyl, though, just in case!!

 Got back into it in 2006 after listening to online radio playing a lot of oldskool, and thought i'd give it another go. Not had the confidence to play out again, since but you never know.....
