I'm very excited to share this clip with you because it features a guest guitar performance from Steve Hackett, legendary guitarist from the band Genesis! I did some production assistance and keyboards on his Genesis Revisited album (which was a complete honor) and to "return the favor" he offered to play on my first ever solo album! (Don't tell him that he owed me no favor as the favor was letting me play on his album in the first place!). I'm such a fan of his playing and of Steve himself. He and Jo and Roger and his whole band have been so cool to be around... I could go on and I will when I get a proper blog. So, this is part of the closing track on my album which is the book-end to the "rock opera" that starts off the album. The title of this section of the song is "Ascension". This of course is just a rough work in progress mix for now to get a taste of what the album is going to be like. If you're into "old Genesis" there are some tips of the hat in that direction especially having Steve on board. But there are also people who have played with Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree, It Bites, Big Big Train, Alan Parsons Project, Chicago and other bands all over the album. If you want to hear classic rock and Prog in a modern musical context then I'm making this record for you! That's what I like myself!

"Ascension" With Hackett for Dave Kerzner album "New World"

Here's another clip from my upcoming album "New World", although this one may end up being a bonus track for my Kickstarter campaign exclusively as opposed to a track on the regular release. Not sure yet. As usual this is a rough work in progress mix. This time I'm show cases the talents of Fernando Perdomo, a multi-instrumentalist who has contributed a ton of guitar and bass on this album. Here Fern, Nick D'Virgilio and I go wild in the middle section of a song called "The Way Out".

Way Out Guitar - feat Fernando Perdomo for Dave Kerzner's New World

This is one of the bonus tracks on the Dave Kerzner New World Live Extended Edition coming out this month. It's on the additional disc that has three new studio recordings plus a Pink Floyd song (Great Gig In The Sky featuring Durga McBroom, long time vocalist with Floyd) and a medley of Sound of Contact songs (songs I wrote with Simon Collins, Kelly Nordstrom and Matt Dorsey performed by my solo band in Holland earlier this year). On my European tour we sometimes played a cover of ELP's Lucky Man and I dedicated it to my late great friend and musical hero Keith Emerson. Sending you love wherever you are Keith! We decided to record our take on the song in the studio for fun and here it is. Hope you like it. We went heavier in the end section because that's how we feel about it. We miss him!

Dave Kerzner is a producer/songwriter and keyboardist who has worked with a variety of artists ranging from Kevin Gilbert to Steve Hackett, Steven Wilson, Francis Dunnery and many more. He is best known for his debut solo album New World and for co-creating the award-winning album Dimensionaut with Sound of Contact as well as being the head of the popular music software and sound development company Sonic Reality. Another music project of Dave's is "Sonic Elements' which combines the sounds of Sonic Reality that feature artists like Neil Peart of Rush or Nick Mason of Pink Floyd combined with special guests like Billy Sherwood (Yes), Keith Emerson, members of bands like Porcupine Tree, SOC and more.
