When Mike Dunn released his Classic Music Company debut ‘My House From All Angles’ last year, the album was met with critical acclaim, The Guardian writing: “God may have made him funky, but Mike Dunn has kept it going ever since.” Now, two stand out cuts from the LP are given the remix treatment, enlisting some of the label’s closest cohorts to re-work these two irresistible hip-house jams. Up first, Peppermint Jam boss Mousse T. opens the release, weaving in his signature bouncy melodies and funk-flavoured grooves into ‘If I Can’t Get Down’. A joyous introduction to the Brooklyn artist, this single demonstrated an ability to strike the balance between classic and contemporary sounds seamlessly. Eli Escobar drops an unexpected five-track EP on his own Night People NYC imprint in September 2020: Night Class. The release finds Eli exploring his roots of the NYC clubland, and reflects a melancholy of the rawer cuts he has been most notable for. The single ‘Give Love’ will be available from September 25th, with the rest of the record following as singles, releasing week by week.

 Eli Escobar: “ When Lockdown went into effect I experienced an unusual burst of creative energy.

In the first month I made about 40 tracks and as I sorted through them, I was able to group them together and give them each homes so to speak, different projects began to take shape. However, there were a few that were left over.

 Quite honestly, I was prepared to disregard them entirely until one evening I was listening back and I grouped 5 of those tracks together and began to hear them in a new way. I decided they were worthy of releasing on their own. Being that they all had a bit of a dark vibe and were more synth heavy than my usual work, I took some photos on the Belt Parkway while the sun was setting to match the mood. Night Class seemed an appropriate title.

I’m very proud of this group of work and am excited for people to hear it!“
