The phenomenal & hugely influential New York downtown scene of the late 70s & 80’s has been widely documented. However there is a missing story that has remained untold until now. Midnight Riot proudly presents Tina B and her ‘Jazzy Sensation’ featuring 2021 remixes with Moodena & Yam Who? both delivering some serious studio action. Originally released in 1981 on Tommy Boy Records by Afrika Bambaattaa & Arthur Baker (Tina’s lifelong friend & then partner) where they took the musical base of Gwen McRae’s ‘Funky Sensation’ and with Shep Pettibone on the desk they created a huge block party anthem. Baker was already experimenting with drum machines, synths & samplers so what you hear on ‘Jazzy’ is rap clearly moving away from the disco & funk era and moving straight into the electro funk future. 

This unfolded into the whole new ‘Planet Rock’ period where very quickly Arthur created huge smashes that pulsated dance floors around the globe including Rockers Revenge ‘Walking On The Sunshine’, Freeez ‘IOU’ and New Order’s ‘Confusion’ with Tina heavily involved on all backing vocals. Literally overnight  a career as the ‘go to BV girl’ around town leading to Madonna’s ‘Holiday’ session. Not forgetting her infamous & highly credible ‘Beat Street’ film appearance and then onto a creative life in London that lasted for 2 decades.

So here we are on the cusp of a new era, Tina is now back in Florida, working with Arthur on the forthcoming Rockers Revenge album & documentary plus more highly infectious original recordings for Midnight Riot.

The legendary US soul-funk act released three albums on Columbia in the 70s, including the anthem 'Come Go With Me'. Fast forward to 2021 and the band have come up with a brand new song with a positive message in the shape of gospel-tinged 'Work It Out'. The Pockets were so impressed with Dave Lee’s remix of 'Come Go With Me' on his Remixed With Love project that they asked him to work his magic on their new release. Mr Lee has managed to tease in some of their classic old sound into the instrumentation.

The Plates bring a  chunky revision of a breezy, horn-heavy funky disco number that Disco Police brought bang up to date with the addition of dub delays, lolloping drums, and a thickset basslines. 
Brilliantly blending disco & house with electrofunk era chunk of disco brilliance, along with a filter-sporting slab of mid-tempo disco-house chug rich jams packed in jangling guitar riffs and insanely heavy bass.

Ja’shay “Shout Hallelujah” - a powerful gospel house cut straight out of New Jersey featuring the vocals of Liz Yancey. Dave Lee re-rubs the original to bring out the Holy Spirit with its stompin’ drums,  90’s house bassline, bouncy piano riffs, and hair raising Organ skills courtesy of Incognito’s Matt Cooper. 'Reverend Lee' then turns the jack factor up a notch on his Dub version, focusing the groove and letting the Organ player truly shine on. If this doesn’t have the dancefloor rejoicing then what on earth will?!

Sought after Parisian dj & producer Young Pulse is dropping his first EP "Love Will Bring It", the result of his true dedication to the disco sound.

Renowned for his sound signature on reworks of disco/boogie tunes from the late 70's - early 80's, and his successful remixes of french pop legends like Veronique Sanson, Françoise Hardy, Sheila… it was just about time to release his own material !

The single "Love Will Bring It" is an original disco track involving the powerful South African singer Natalie Nova. "There's Never Been (No One Like You)" is a cover of the undergound disco-boogie favorite, and the third track is a garage spin of the classic "Keep The Fire Burning" with the warm vocals of UK house singer Natasha Watts.

"Love Will Bring It" is an uplifting EP, crafted for today's dancefloors. Produced with love, passion, admiration and respect for the beautiful era of dance music.
