Timmy Vegas has been behind some of the most successful dance tracks of recent years including Dutty Funk with Barbara Tucker and 'Strings of Life’ as one half of Soul Central.

Masterworks Music mastermind 80’s Child unleashes the third in his Masterworks compilations. A two-part vinyl release with volume one joining the dots between The Funk District, Oldchap, Dr Packer and Hotmood.

Stepping up first, The Funk District harnesses those glamorous grooves into a DJ friendly, uptempo slice of sunshine, sure to make an impression in those peak time sets. Oldchap takes things into deeper territory with a disco house joint filled to the brim with sleazy synthwork, staccato guitars and dreamy percussion coupled with touches of funk vocal brilliance.

Flip it over and Dr Packer dissects some disco gold, re-stitching into a brass led, boogified roof raiser. Closing out part one of Masterworks Vol. 3, Hotmood lovingly loops up a bass riff and tight percussion with reverberated vocal samples to create a bumping floor filler. Hold on for a spiritual synth solo that elevates ‘Your Big Chance’ into the far reaches of the sonic stratosphere.

BBE Music bids a fond farewell to UK music hero, the Legendary Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson, with the great man’s final production: a stunning soulful house version of gospel standard ‘Happy Day’.

A pirate radio and club DJ since the 1970s, the influence of Paul ‘Trouble’ Anderson on UK music simply cannot be understated. From his early days throwing shapes and honing his formidable skills behind the decks at London club ‘Crackers’, through his years at Kiss FM, to enchanting a whole new generation in recent times with his Bussey Building residency and on Mi Soul Radio, Paul’s was surely a life well spent: spreading joy through music.

It is fitting then, that his final production is a characteristically up-beat, ebullient and spiritual one. First arranged in a gospel style by Edwin Hawkins in 1967, ‘Oh Happy Day’ has become beloved the world over thanks to its comforting message and uplifting harmonies. Featuring vocals from the dearly departed John Redmond (RIP) and drums/programming from Frankie Dark (aka Booker T), PTA’s ‘Happy Day’ provides an ecstatic, anthemic soulful house update; a truly breathtaking and beautiful way to say goodbye.

The package contains a pair of piano-laden dub versions, plus instrumental and reprise mixes, giving a versatile selection for DJs to choose from, with stunning original artwork by Richard Wilson.

The general consensus has been that "The Secret Life of Us" CD is the strongest album yet from Joey Negro's Sunburst Band. Recently managing to top the Solar Sweet Rhythms chart, Starpoint Soul Chart, Amazon Dance chart, now we start to see some of the cuts in extended remixed form.

The brassy disco funk jam "Take It To The Top" gets an extended beefed up treatment from Joey Negro. As always with Sunburst tunes the instrumentation is top notch, while Noelle Scaggs vocals ride beautifully over the top.

For those who like things a bit more electronic Andreas Saag delivers a brilliant remix that retains the jazziness of the original but underpinned by a crazy syncopated bassline.
