Tiësto, recently named "Greatest DJ of All-Time" by Mixmag, combines forces with fellow Dutchman and fast rising star, Hardwell.  Their collaboration here on "Zero 76" is a monumental production, fusing each artists' style to create an early contender for tune of 2011.

Tiësto and Hardwell both hail from Breda, Netherlands and the title Zero 76 is a nod to their home town's area code.  Hardwell explains, "Being born and raised in Breda, Tiësto's hometown, I always felt a certain pride when others mentioned his name.  When meeting him for the first time, last year in Ibiza, we had an instant click that lead to this cooperation."

 

As if their country couldn't be any more proud of them, this co-production is as big as it gets.   After making the rounds at festivals around the globe and garnering massive, organic hype on youtube Zero 76 is finally poised for mass release. Bridget Grace's "Love To The Limit" was originally released on Mad Mike's short-lived Happy Records in 1992. 

It is one of Dave Lee's favourite records of the era so a couple of years ago he contacted Bridgett to re-record the vocals and she has done a great job of retaining the magic of the original. 

Remixer Shur-i-Kan has also excelled himself keeping the essence of what was brilliant about the original but bringing it bang up to date with a punchy old school house sound. If you remember the original or not, it's a special song.

Detroit Rising is a new musical collective that combines highly sought after young writers and musicians with the current and original members of legendary funk band Parliament-Funkadelic. 

The original version of 'Little Bit' features Gabe Gonzalez - drums (P-funk, Bernie Worrell), Kern Brantley - bass, (Lady Gaga, Mary J Blige), Dominie Deporres - guitar (Theo Parrish).

Taking a break from their extensive touring schedule, the collective have spent time in the studio creating a hybrid jazz-funk album titled ‘A Cosmic Jazz Funk Adventure’.

These are the first remixes from the album and Sean McCabe works the original live elements and Martez’s vocals into his trademark deep and soulful house sound. Included here is Sean’s vocal mix, a Dub and a bonus Moody Remix.

Z Records continues its commitment to unearthing the obscure and long forgotten tracks from the last 40 years through the ever-popular Under The Influence series. Following on from Red Greg, Paul Phillips, James Glass, Nick The Record and Sean P it’s now the turn of one of the scene’s most respected live disco acts and DJ duos, Faze Action.

Robin and Simon Lee aka Faze Action, were championing disco and all its afro off-shoots back in the mid 90’s when it certainly wasn’t the latest trend to do so. It was however their Original Disco Motion and In The Trees releases on Nuphonic Records that shaped the Faze Action sound and were defining moments of the time and played a large part in coining the term nu-disco. 

Fast forward 20+ years and the brothers Lee are still pushing the modern disco sound with their live sets and studio productions as Faze Action. Alongside their studio work they’ve always been serious record collectors so their selections for this latest Under The Influence album are reflective of their extensive collecting and digging history. 

“Searching for and buying old records helps to keep our musical thirst alive and is a constant source of inspiration for both our DJ sets and our original productions.”

Under The Influence Vol.6 is the first compilation Faze Action have been involved in for several years, and they’ve dug incredibly deep, unearthing tracks ranging from afro, italo, soul, funk and disco, with many of the vinyl going for hundreds of pounds, if you were even able to find the originals. They have also edited some of the tracks exclusively for this album adding yet more value to an already fully packed gatefold double LP and double CD.

Included in the booklet are extensive track notes from Faze Action highlighting what they know about these records and, where they are super-rare and obscure, what they don’t.

As always with ZR compilations a lot of time and effort has been spent on creating these masters from the original vinyl, cleaning them up, removing all the clicks and pops resulting in the cleanest audio possible.
