My late mother was a  "girl singer" --Libbie Roe -- on the road and radio briefly in New York in the late 1930s. In fact, after auditioning at one station, she got the gig, the guy for whom she sang got her, and eventually they got me.
Cleaning out her apartment last year, we came across a number of dusty 78 rpm recordings she made in that era -- with orchestras led by Don Albert and Louis Katzman, a radio and recording pioneer who previously conducted for George Gershwin. We recently had them digitized, along with one from a broadcast talent show circa 1952 with her squeaky, ten-year-old son--my radio debut.
So now she's in "the cloud" --in both senses -- for as long as digits shall last. Hope you enjoy.
On 5/19/16: Just uploaded the last eleven tracks we found. "Because of You" and "Shanghai" my favorites, quite different, and good example of her range.
