Ode to King Eveling - Live at the Roman Fort of Mediobogdum - Cumbria, UK

My wife and I were lucky to re-charge in this recently converted church in Mountmellick during a tour of Ireland with the Seattle based Irish/Folk/Punk band "The Bog Hoppers". Our lead singer came from Mountmellick and his Aunt was friends with the new owners of this soon to be Hostel (but wasn't quite finished yet). So, Nichola and I had a church to ourselves (even no staff) for three days. The converted sanitary's acoustics were just perfect. This was one of the highlights of the tour.

There is only slight EQ on this recording. It is all natural reverb with the mic about 7 feet away from the handpan.

It's 2am in the Mountmellick Sanctuary - Live at the old Presbyterian Church, Mountmellick, Ireland

This was my favorite (and most powerful) visit to the area's stone circles. It may have been the energy from the people visiting or the power of the circle at sunset. 

This circle is one of the oldest in England being constructed around 3200 BC.

I enjoyed a nice conversation with a couple who regularly vista the circle. They talked about how the different circles get their power (solstice, people, meditation) but the circle also needs to be re-energized. They shared a wine offering with me expressing there gratitude of how I was giving back to the circle and putting energy into it through music.

Giving Back to the Circle with Musical Energy - Castlerigg Stone Circle, Cumbria, England

After a long journey through Wales, we descended south to our yoga retreat in Devon. We mapped the Sat coordinates on our iPhone and new the retreat was in the Dartmoor National Park. When we mapped it, it dropped a pin, but led us to the center of the park. Without reception we drove through the park. We realized this was the most beautiful place and we would have never saw it if we weren't lost. So we decided to enjoy it. We found our bearings and were off to the edge of the park to get the freeway to go to the correct place when we drove by Hound Tor  at sunset....we had to pull over and perform at this amazing natural rock formation. Legends have it is haunted by hounds. You can hear in the improvisation an outpouring of tension and emotion but acceptance in this journey.

This was one of my favorite recordings from the project. Enjoy!
