Undertow is an original song that tells a story by making an analogy between being taken away by a surprising, frightening ocean undertow and being wonderfully saved by a surprising, relentless love. This is another project that started with a simple live recording that Nat then fashioned into a more polished final outcome.

The Smoking Trout collaborative is back with another installment in the story of the Quest for the Holy Dumpling! On this one, me, Jeff, Uziel, and Stephen are joined by Tot for the first time. He sent us an awesome beat to serve as the rhythmic backbone to this new song. Then Stephen totally funkified it with guitar, Uziel gave a stellar performance on vocals with some original lyrics, and Jeff and I contributed just the right amount of weirdness. In a basement completely sheltered from noise and the outside world, without telephones or internet, I was able to reasonably compose around fifteen titles without any interference. This isolation will remain a beneficial event in more than one way.
