For over five years we’ve been browsing through boundless seas and branched forests to find powerful gems leaving a sharp impression while taking us on a journey. They infatuate, fascinate and delight the listeners falling in love with the works of art. What makes the quest most fun: the more unknown the artists, the more truthful the productions. Saved Records are delighted to welcome underground champion Hot Since 82 into the family. Long-time admirers of the Leeds based producer’s consistently uncompromising and visceral aesthetic, the imprint unleashes the Hot Since 82 sound along with a remix from the ever-adventurous Matthias Meyer.

“Play The Room” is a hypnotic and heady workout that draws potency from its simplicity. Built around jacking drum machines and a throbbing, relentless wall of bass, the track grows into a powerfully addictive beast through a series of subtle steps. Slight gearshifts in tempo and weight of the bottom end facilitate a much more absorbing sound, pulling us into dubby, warehouse atmospheres. There is a warm a smoggy overtone that will suit summer dancefloors, but combined with a deft musicality that piques the ear.

Hamburg’s Matthias Meyer highlights his singular attitude once again with his wonderfully expansive remix. Rich in ambient, cinematic textures but driven by deep bass and agile breaks; the remix finds a rare beauty in its contradictions and complexities. Melodic, emotive and thoughtful yet hardened, purposeful and melancholic, this remix has the ability to lead you into the unknown forest.

Khruangbin is a three-piece band from Texas, formed of Laura Lee on bass, Mark Speer on guitar, and Donald Johnson on drums. Taking influence from 1960's Thai funk - their name literally translates to "Engine Fly" in Thai - Khruangbin is steeped in the bass heavy, psychedelic sound of their inspiration, Tarantino soundtracks and surf-rock cool. Khruangbin's exotic, individual sound is captured at their spiritual home, a remote barn deep in the Texas countryside where their first rehearsals took place. Debut album ‘The Universe Smiles Upon You’ is scheduled for release at the end of this year.

You can't resist the beats. Vocals and synths float through the rooms. Reverb-whipped sounds keep you moving on and on. In his version of This Is Your Beat Mike Starr sets on the profound interaction of voice, rhythm and fragments of a melody. Skillfully creating his very own funk.
