We welcome to the Moustache Records family the oldskool electro legend Martin Matiske with his Electronic disco-ish 12 inch EP release "Robotic Theatre" This is a future vision of a theatre run by robots and is the era in which machines entertain mankind. Operas are written and played in a mechanical way. The pieces of "Robotic Theatre" deal with different terms of stage work. Track A1 is called "Acting Faces" and Refers to the rehearsing of the role, as well as the interaction of the actors on stage. The well-being of the actor does not often match what is played. He has to play even If it's painful. B2 is the track called "Machinery" Human beings are machines that build machines today. The advantage is perfection and time saving. Robots as actors are reliable and precise. B1 listen to the name "Transistor Dances"its Like The Hungarian Dances by Johannes Brahms you just need a dance to express happiness and remind your culture. Dances bring people together. A robotic dance should not be missing in a play. The last track of the EP is the tune "Practise" a story about a robot the has to practise to achieve perfection and it is fun." PREMIERE - Martin Matiske - Analogue Being  (Melodize)

German artist Martin Matiske's start in music came at the hands of the legendary DJ Hell, who invited him to his first DJ gigs in 1999 at one of his Gigolo label nights in Munich. 

His own productions, inspired by early electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre, soon followed on International Deejay Gigolo Records, as have many more since on Frustrated Funk, Bordello A Parigi, Moustache Records and Central Processing Unit. Matiske has had high-profile support from the likes of Dave Clarke and Helena Hauff, and this new EP for Brooklyn-based label Melodize is another one that will surely find wide acclaim.

The fantastic 'Moments' opens up with ice-cold snares and drum sounds that are backlit by celestial pads as retro-future synth work brings colour to this catchy and optimistic proto-electro groove. ‘Moments’ then gets a sublime remix treatment from the prolific and endlessly creative Legowelt, who has explored every different style possible under a myriad of aliases on a range of cult labels like Clone, LIES and Crème Organization. The Dutch maestro’s superb take on 'Moments' is an astral electro workout with killer acidic lines, squelchy bass and daubs of psychedelic colour.

On the flip, 'Dimensional Space Travel' is another cinematic electro journey that taps into the motorik tick of Kraftwerk with distinctive melodic phrasings, forming a playful call-and-response with the background chords. Closer 'Analogue Being' taps into early electro with lovably tinny rhythms and sugary, pixelated analogue chords that bring a sense of nostalgia and ruefulness.

His unmistakable mix of cold currents and warm melodies has made Martin Matiske a regular here at Bordello A Parigi. Amore Galattico is the German artist’s third release with us, an intergalactic voyage with a synthesizer as a guide. The title piece is a bold, yet fragile, composition. Woven around slender drum patterns are flows and shifts, key changes and scaling notes where astral washes blend with romantic flourishes. Beats are bolstered and fortified by harmonic richness in “Cuore”, an analogue space opera of daring complexity and unsurpassable execution. Matiske’s twenty five years of experience are plain to hear in this quartet. His range and musical skill are coupled with an uncanny ability to balance contrasting tones. Glacial chords are buttressed by low juddering bass in “Heaven Knows”, the listener pulled ever skyward in this sublime work. The curtain fall maintains the cinematic and dramatic quality that underscores the EP. Striking synthlines shimmer before understated rhythms, a radiant finale on an EP that takes inspiration from the stars themselves.

IM KELLAR’s ‘The Scene’ EP is released via Moustache Records this Friday (8th June). We’ve got the exclusive premiere of its title track below.

IM KELLAR – the production name for Moustache Records boss David Vunk and David Spanish – dropped their debut self-titled EP together late last year, with ‘IM KELLAR’ from it landing the No. 22 spot in our top tracks of 2017.

The Rotterdam-based duo’s ‘The Scene’ EP picks up pretty much exactly where their debut left off, throwing the roughest edges of EBM, electro and wave sounds together in an entirely unapologetic style.

Speaking about the EP, David Vunk told DJ Mag, “Mandy hates her job, there are rules in life.”

‘The Scene’ EP lands this Friday (8th June) via Moustache Records. You can pre-order it now, but move fast, as there are strictly no represses.

Hailing from the Rhein-Main area Philipp Lauer provides the scene with top-class music under several aliases or with various projects. Under the Tuff City moniker Philipp produces music with Running Back head-honcho Gerd Janson, while for the Black Spuma project Lauer teams up with Fabrizio Mammarella and then there is Philipp doing music as Lauer and releases music on renowned labels such as Permanent Vacation, Live At Robert Johnson, Futureboogie Recordings, Cin Cin or Running Back. In all modesty those labels have defined the history of electronic dance music  over the past one or two decades. An influence that cannot be denied but can rather be found in Lauer's own music or DJ sets. Speaking of the latter, the charming Frankfurt boy, or the DJ from the speckgürtel, compiled the latest art:cast taking the listener from disco to disco with a dubby start to create an overall heterogeneous composition that soaks you into its vibe from start to finish.
