The Fades are set to release the next single from their blistering new indie rock post-punk paragon 'Night Terrors'. 

'Drives Me On' is a powerful indie rock rallying cry for the power of friendship with a triumphant soaring chorus that makes you want to jump up and sing. 

After receiving rave reviews of the new album and getting tracks onto loads of great playlists (editorial and curated) the band are heading out on tour to play the record live with some highlight shows including 229 Club Soho, Lions Den Manchester, the Lexington in Islington and much more coming over the next few months.

We’ve all been there at times… losing faith in life, questioning who to turn to for solace and meaning – and this time it’s lead singer and guitarist Dave Lightfoot of South London garage rockers The Fades. Having heard a rumour that Keanu Reeves was filming around the corner from their rehearsal studios just after experiencing a midlife breakup, Dave’s imagination was set alight thinking: imagine bumping into Keanu on the street, hanging out and going back to the studio with him for a jam together – then an amazing lifelong relationship can begin, but before that there’s a song to write and here it is…

Looking for Keanu is a 90’s inspired slice of slacker indie rock that features The Fades at their most reflective and self-effacing.

The naked honesty in the verse lyric is plain to see but even in the darkest moments there’s always hope to guide us through to better times and then comes the chorus: it’s powerful, catchy and you can’t help but be lifted up by its energy. There’s the video too, jam packed with ‘Easter eggs’ from Keanu’s various films, all shot around the area where Keanu was filming in South London when Dave came up with the song.

Iggy Pop - I Wanna Be Your Dog

It was 10 years ago, 2010.

The Fades had already been around for a few years and were by now determined to have as much fun as possible.

A Talented screenwriter, Peter Hinton had just got in contact with us to ask if we would allow him to use our song Caca for a project he was involved in. We met up and told him we would be delighted and, after a few pints of Old Rosie cider (ouch!) he told us he had an idea of us covering I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing, the classic New Seekers hit for his show. We loved the idea and set to it. I had this idea of staring it off with a bit of a tribute to the Only Fools And Horses theme music (We got some half-price deep freeze…etc) and it grew from there. For a musician, I really must have the most tuneless, foghorn of a singing voice and yet despite this I always wanted to sing on a hit record. Well, here it is! Thankfully Dave’s angelic vocals take over swiftly and I get back to fighting with my guitar.

We later got a message from The New Seekers saying that they loved our version and had performed it Fades-style at one of their gigs. If only footage of that existed somewhere! - Jonny Fade
