Tom Lachance (b. 1998) is a Montreal based Canadian composer whose research is
grounded in synesthesia, which is the perception of associations between different 
sensations. He notably uses visual or tactile input to generate musical structures and ideas. 
This exploration takes place in different forms using visual art and landscapes, or natural 
processes.
His works have been commissioned and performed by various ensembles, including the 
Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Paramirabo Ensemble, Nouvel Ensemble Moderne, 
Cobalt String Quartet, the TorQ Percussion Quartet, the Texas New Music Ensemble and 
Orchestre de l’Université de Montréal.
His music has been recognized by numerous grants from the Canada Council for the Arts, 
Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec and LOJIQ. 
He is currently pursuing a PhD of Music Composition with Chris Paul Harman. He 
completed a Master’s at the University of Montreal in 2022, studying with Ana Sokolović

Based in Montreal, percussionist David Therrien Brongo has carved out a career as a performer, a pedagogue, and a researcher. He collaborates regularly with a number of ensembles; he holds the position of timpanist and principal percussionist with the Orchestre de l’Agora and the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. From 2016 to 2023 he held the principal percussion position in Ensemble Paramirabo. Therrien Brongo also plays in numerous other ensembles like the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestre Métropolitain, the Orchestre symphonique de Québec, Sixtrum Percussion Ensemble, and the Nouvel Ensemble Moderne.

Therrien Brongo obtained his doctorate in music performance from the Schulich School of Music of McGill University under the tutelage of Fabrice Marandola, where he conducted research, financed by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, pertaining to solo percussion works in Quebec. He previously studied at the Université de Montréal as well as at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya in Barcelona.

Over the course of his career, Therrien Brongo has earned several prizes and grants: fourth place at the 2021 Prix d’Europe competition, a grant from the Fondation Père Lindsay as well as various Prix Opus and JUNO award nominations with Ensemble Paramirabo. Therrien Brongo is an artist endorser of Bergerault and Dream Cymbals and Gongs.

Gabriel Trottier est un corniste soliste, chambriste et musicien d’orchestre interprétant la musique ancienne à la musique actuelle sur instruments historiques et modernes. De plus, il est porteur de projets de commandes d’œuvres et participe à des projets interdisciplinaires qui allient à la musique des éléments d’autres disciplines artistiques, tels que le théâtre et les arts visuels.

Présentement membre de l’Ensemble Tesse, Gabriel Trottier travaille aussi régulièrement avec la Société de Musique Contemporaine du Québec ainsi qu’avec plusieurs orchestres et ensembles québécois dont l’Orchestre symphonique de Québec. À l’international, il a collaboré entre autres avec des ensembles tels que l’Ensemble intercontemporain, le quintette à vent Le Concert Impromptu (Paris) et l’Oslo Sinfonietta. Diplômé de la Norwegian Academy of Music (M. Mus 2016) et de l’Université de Montréal (D. Mus 2021), il a étudié sous la tutelle de Frøydis Ree Wekre, Julius Pranevicius, Saar Berger et Louis-Philippe Marsolais. Spécialisé en musique contemporaine, il a été fellow de l’International Ensemble Modern Academy (M. Mus 2018), en Allemagne et il a participé à l’Académie du Festival de Lucerne. Son travail a été soutenu, entre autres, par le Conseil des Arts du Canada, le Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec (CALQ) et la Fondation Sylva- Gelber pour la musique.

Gabriel Trottier encourage et soutient l’innovation dans l’écriture d’œuvres pour le cor, en contribuant à la recherche et en diffusant le savoir sur l’histoire de la musique ainsi que sur les nouvelles pratiques artistiques. En ce sens, ses activités professionnelles incluent aussi l’enseignement, la musique mixte et l’improvisation.

Gabriel Trottier is a solo, chamber and orchestral horn player who performs baroque to new music on modern and historical instruments. In addition, he initiates the commissioning of new works and participates in interdisciplinary projects that bring together music with other art forms, including theater and visual arts.

Currently a member of Ensemble Tesse, Gabriel Trottier also frequently works with the Société de Musique Contemporaine du Québec as well as many orchestras and ensembles in the province such as the Orchestre symphonique de Québec. Internationally, he has worked with the Ensemble intercontemporain, the woodwind quintet Le Concert Impromptu (Paris) and the Oslo Sinfonietta, among others. A graduate of the Norwegian Academy of Music (M. Mus 2016) and the University of Montreal (D. Mus 2021), he studied under the tutelage of Frøydis Ree Wekre, Julius Pranevicius, Saar Berger and Louis-Philippe Marsolais. Specializing in contemporary music performance, he was a fellow at the International Ensemble Modern Academy (M. Mus 2018) in Germany and is an alumnus of the Lucerne Festival Academy. Gabriel Trottier encourages and supports innovation within the creation of new works for the horn and by contributing to research. Further, he aims to disseminate the knowledge of music history and new artistic practices. In that way, his professional activities also include teaching, live electronics, and improvisation.

Acclaimed for his “ethereal saxophone playing” (Vital Weekly), Dylan Ward is a musician/improviser/sound artist specializing in contemporary and electroacoustic music. Ward has released recordings on the Neuma, Mother Brain, and XAS record labels that have been described as “meditative, jarring, and cosmic…highly creative” (Take Effect Reviews) and praised for presenting music that is “clear and coherent in its discourse, original in its sounds, and as beautiful and intellectually stimulating as it is playful” (Pan M 360). Ward has performed nationally at the Bang on a Can LOUD Weekend Festival, Eighth Blackbird Creative Lab, Northwestern University New Music Conference (NUNC!), and NYC Electroacoustic Music Festival and appeared in venues including Lincoln Center, Constellation Chicago, Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts, Mesa Arts Center, and Sheen Center for Thought and Culture.

In July 2022, Ward released his debut solo electroacoustic album, Tourmaline, through Neuma Records. The album explores ideas of sonic transmutation and alchemy, featuring music by Alexandra Gardner, Viet Cuong, Seth Andrew Davis, Kenneth Michael Florence, and Emma O’Halloran. From the Cave of Crystals to the cosmogonic Ogdoad, from Paul Klee’s depiction of the Angel of History to the structure of a Michael Jordan documentary, Tourmaline covers a wide range of creative concepts in pursuit of the alchemical magnum opus. 

Ward's creative work has received support from the NC Arts Council, Charlotte Arts & Science Council, City of Charlotte, Infusion Fund, Foundation for the Carolinas, UMKC School of Graduate Studies, Charlotte Street Foundation, Semans Art Fund, Thomas S.
