Burning Man 2024 - Thurs. 2:30am @ Soundgarden
Wow - this was a really special night. So many incredible dancers beautifully and enthusiastically expressing to my set. Behold 2 hours of unplanned and spontaneously DJ'd deep melodic beauty, uplifting global vibes and transcendent joy.  

As an exploration of world music this house mix spans many continents and cultures, one whose coda ultimately concludes with two remixes that, while they were somewhat a deviation from the theme of global sounds, they perfectly summed up the collective heartspace of those deeply vibing wee hours at Burning Man. 

Massive thanks to Mark Duncan and crew at Soundgarden (2:00/Gobsmack) for creating an exemplary space for music and the movement community.

(Track List Below) This live set from Center Camp was inspired by the joy and adventure I experienced out on the playa that night. Pulling from the last 10 years of my releases I went back to my roots in that shanti world heart vibe, so much music that I never get to play at big parties and clubs. Played to a huge and empty tent it was one of the highlights of my time in the desert, just for me. Sparkled in are some favorite tracks by other producers. In the moment I felt so much gratitude for all the collaborators, singers and instrumentalists who have worked on these songs with me on this journey. Still that heartfelt thanks is just as present. May you enjoy the journey and feel the intention. Yip yip!

TYMPANA: a DARCE LEONE mix | 90's DNB

Our epic EDUK day festival EmboDAYfest last Saturday included this wonderfully emotional shamanic ecstatic offering by Taoro, who was accompanied by friends Sudha, Gary, Rodrigo & Guppy, with live percussion, flute & bass. This recording was made live at Cardiff Ecstatic Dance at Coed. A beautiful cacao ceremony and special Taurus 'Rooted' edition of the dance, both dances that shall live on in our body and mind memories. 

Enjoy this medicine dance that honours the forests, all nature, plant medicine people and their spirits - We go deep, we root down far, so we rise so high. Take some space, breathe and move as you feel to with these sounds and waves. Please let me know in the comments if you enjoy :)

Shamanic Ecstatic Ceremonial Dance - EmboDAYfest Re-Edit / Cardiff EDance LIVE

This one! Transglobally good groove of Gritty and gossamer, delicate and driving, spaciously dense and playfully serious Afroblessed, Latin scorched, Heart-Opening, Booty-Shaking levity. 

Here's a mix of deep, pulsing and vibrant global magic. A late night house music journey on the playa that extracts itself from an incredibly tumultuous burn: The heat, the wind, the destruction, the dust...then rain. 

The elements in all their adversity did little to restrain an incredible dancefloor at Sound Garden where I dropped MY most inspired set since attending my first burn 30 years ago. While massive thanks to the dancefloor for its constant inspiration that night, an even bigger thanks goes out to my friend Mark Duncan, the inimitable and indefatigable visionary and host who curated and produced yet another extraordinary week at Sound Garden.

(On a final note, the closing track (Florian Gasperini - Back Home) is dedicated to our friend John Rider who passed away at the burn, at camp, Weds morning. His happy place. He would not have wanted it any other way)

“My spiritual practice is writing pop songs. They’re a way to communicate to the world with emotional authenticity, express feelings, and give musicians a voice,” says producer DJ Trotsky. 

DJ Trotsky is a Los Angeles, California-based producer and songwriter who works with pop artists and developing pop artists. He works in a variety of contexts, including turning in complete songs, collaborating from scratch, writing top-line, building tracks from beats up, and simply producing artists with already-written songs. Through these many guises, DJ Trotsky tailors his perspective to suit the situation. “Often the best approach in my work is just me disappearing and serving the song,” he explains. 

Signature to DJ Trotsky’s aesthetic are well-crafted songs brimming with infectious melodies, and often intimate and vulnerable lyrics. From this core, he crafts sleekly modern tracks informed from a lifetime of crate digging as a DJ, and playing organic instruments in rock bands, and his tireless desire to always seek fresh sounds. Along the way, DJ Trotsky has played in funk bands in San Francisco. He has experienced the renaissance of modern electro dance music in Ibiza, Spain. He has reveled in the rumblings of punk, early hip-hop, and dance music in those seismic and formative music moments in New York City at the Mudd Club and CBGBs. And he has DJ-ed exclusive parties in vibey venues in Bali, Thailand, Ibiza, and Estonia. 

DJ Trotsky is a global citizen born David Brownstein, and his chosen moniker is a playful shout out to the Russian revolutionary Leon Trotsky and his Jewish roots. He’s lived many lives, including being a Grammy-nominated music video producer and internationally-recognized career coach. DJ Trotsky has also released three albums as an artist of vibrantly varied electronic pop produced and recorded all over the world.

Select sample tracks that highlight the prismatic artistry of DJ Trotsky include “Across the Pond,” ”Strange Beautiful Dream,” and “What To Say To A Ghost.” The track “Across the Pond” has been described as “drum n bass n brass” and is a cross-genre symphony of acoustic guitar, be-bop trumpet, synth bass and electronic drum loops, showcasing DJ Trotsky’s songwriting smarts and his edgy production chops. This jam is paired with a warmly lo-fi, iPhone-shot video footage culled from visits to Bali, London, and Thailand that contrast the chaos and the calm of these tropical/urban paradises.

DJ Trotsky has enjoyed a wildly fishtailing music career and life journey, and what keeps him inspired is discovering that next sound, crafting jewels of authentically emotive pop, and connecting with artists as a producer. “I love working with new people, learning about their creative palate—where they’re coming from—and finding common ground,” he says. “The experience is different with every artist, but the process is always surprising and exciting.”
