@josumammi debuts on SURFACE as ‘Mrio’ with his Un’altra EP. It might be the most brilliant selection of compositions that we’ve had the privilege to release to this day. Lead by the magician with classical background, Un'altra takes you to an unforgettable journey filled with colours and melodic sensations. Two of Mrio’s original tracks are joined with two luminous remixes by local artists Aki Himanen and Severi Laine. ‘Un’altra’ gives the listener a wholesome experience we are proud to present as our 13th release.

What could be said about @akihimanen 's masterful interpretation of the title track ‘Un’altra’? It is difficult to even start describing this beautiful piece of musical art. The versatile jazz musician combines elements from his background as a trumpet player and a skillful producer of electronic music. The atmosphere created by this remix could be described as taking a stroll in a fantasy forest or it could very well be the score of a scene from an upcoming critically acclaimed film classic. We are thrilled to get a talent of this level to join the SURFACE artists.

When the concept of remixing these beautiful original tracks came up, naturally SURFACE’s household name @severilaine came to mind. With a more club-like approach to Mrio’s ‘Reggette’, Severi shows his ability to fill the dance floor with the bass heavy yet soothing rework of the original. In addition to being loyal to the original track, Severi takes a more raw approach to this remix while respecting the beautiful melody composed by Josu Mämmi.

Leah Marie is a Melbourne-based DJ that after years of being on various dance floors, finally decided to take to the other side of the decks. Her musical interests lie within the realms of progressive house, afro house and deep/melodic techno & house. Throughout 2021, Leah has gotten people grooving across some of Melbourne's renowned venues including Revolver Upstairs, Brown Alley, Glamorama, Killing Time and Pawn & Co.

David Castellani is a techno producer and modular synthesist with a main focus on peak-time, dance floor-driven energy. David’s sound, fueled by an array of analog hardware, showcases the intricate aspects of modern music production, while staying true to the fundamentals that inspire you to let loose on a dark warehouse floor. 

Italian-born Castellani moved to Chicago in his early years and began his musical journey as a percussion player focusing on jazz-fusion. After an extended focus on classical training, David began pursuing electronic music production which led to a catalogue of releases, collaborations, and remixes by respected artists like Superfreq boss, Mr.C.  

Now living in Los Angeles, Castellani launched his new record imprint, Noetic, which cultivates smart and dynamic techno music. With a heavy focus on modular synthesizers and analog hardware, both Castellani and Noetic feature a boundary-pushing feel, filled with hypnotic sound design, explosive lead lines, futuristic sound palettes, and driven rhythms.

Outside of music, you can find David digging into the many facets of design as the co-owner of the art-driven fashion line, After Infinite, as well as, partial founder of the new modular synthesizer company, Anti-Kulture.
