New tech-leaning house duo MIndek announce themselves as an act to watch in 2018 with their debut EP for DJ S.K.T’s Stashed Music. 

Mindek are a duo that individually have not only existed on the scene for 15 years, but excelled in it. Claiming a back catalogue of engineering and production triumphs that have seen success on industry charts and in the hands of the world’s best-known major and underground record labels, the pair have now turned their expertise into a new venture. Mindek sees them blending classic influences with a new take on techno-fuelled tech-house, and has already seen releases on In The Loop, Whartone, 8 House Records, OneFold Digital and more.

Landing on DJ S.K.T’s Stashed Music imprint, Snailer EP is indicative of their tough, intricate tech sound, and will no doubt be doing damage for months to come. 

The title track is dark, brooding and pummels you into submission with its chunky rolling bass and scything hats. Rule Breaker is similarly sinister, with clipped vocals and paranoia-inducing synth stabs punctuating the shadows. Both are exemplary: you can bet your ass you’ll be hearing a lot more of Mindek throughout 2018.

After a solid start to 2020 with Matadors groove laden “Desire” packing out dancefloors worldwide, RUKUS welcomes a newcomer to the label, in the shape of true musical pioneer, Skream.

The Croydon native has almost 20 years under his belt as a producer, spanning genres and BPMs, racking up releases with renowned labels such as Boysnoize Records, Crosstown Rebels, Hotflush and Solid Grooves, exploring all corners of electronic music and consistently pushing boundaries at every turn.

Anyone who has spent time on the dancefloor during one of his infamous “Open to Close” sets, has witnessed his versatility behind the decks. With a taste that refuses to be confined to a single genre, his passion for the music is clear to see in every selection.

The addictive “DUNNN” EP already features both tracks on Skream’s recent Essential Mix, and kicks off the title track in a playful mood, before a driving synth and heavy kick drum creep in, for a full assault on the senses. The groove soon takes hold and forever pushes things forward, while an infectious vocal appears at all the right moments, reverberating through time an space, creating those heads down hands up moments.

Second track “Tramadollied” shows off a darker, more intense side. Thriving kicks are joined by an eerie melody of disorientating bleeps and keys, that lure you into an almost trance like state, full of moody atmosphere and groove. Peak-time dancefloor heaviness from Skream that’s sure to keep eyes closed and feet stomping!

‘T2’ marks the return of Toolroom’s collaboration concept album. 

‘T1’, released back in October 2015, was an album of new and exciting collabs from Toolroom’s roster at the time; celebrating our artists’ talents and challenging them creatively.  

At the height of lockdown in 2020, with our artists in isolation across the world, it felt like a good opportunity to bring back the series - and also help raise money for Covid-19 relief funds, with a percentage of profits going to charity. 

This time, we picked the collaborations totally at random. Drawn out of a hat by Mark Knight on a Facebook Live broadcast, 36 artists were paired up into 18 new studio partnerships.  Pairings like Amine Edge & DANCE and Maxinne; Alex Preston and Siege; Mat.Joe and Ben Remember; and Juliet Sikora and KC Lights, have resulted in the fusion of different styles, influences and ultimately an album of fresh and essential exclusive tracks. 

‘T2’ features 18 brand new tracks, with some out-of-the-box experiments and sure-fire bangers. Testament to the power of creation in isolation, and the unexpected magic of new collaborating artists at the top of their game.

Leading UK underground artist Seb Zito lands on the Wow! Recordings label with three more of his impossibly infectious and stripped back house gems. Zito has long been associated with a dub tech sound thanks to EPs on Fuse and sets at the associated party that have made him a mainstay of the avant grade. 

You Don't See Me opens up with a firing set of red hot house, powered by kicking kicks and driving synths. It's well swung, stylish and designed to make whole clubs move. 

In and Around then comes next and is a fiery cut with big vocals, sustained pads and bristling sense of energy. Add in some old school effects and a killer bassline and you have a real bomb. 

Dada Bear closes with a busy drum led groove and punchy bass. Slick percussion and synths wiggle up top and make your behind do the same. 

You can always rely on Zito to come up with the goods.

 Revolutionary DJ and producer Matador presents his exciting debut release for Hot Creations Wildside this July. It features two contrasting tracks that stay true to the ethos of the label synonymous with White Isle hedonism.

Wildside opens with spirited percussion of shakers and snare rolls, reverberating into a fuzzy and infectious bassline groove. The playful sample is looped over crazy effects and bright keys, before dropping into a final crescendo that will have feet stomping in unison. Sweet Release retains a classic deep house sound with dreamy chords and lush synth. The track develops with warm sub-bass, piano, arpeggiation and soulful vocals, resulting in a summertime anthem.

Matador has made his mark on the electronic music world since the very beginning, producing a BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix, becoming a brand ambassador for MODEL 1 and featuring in Resident Advisor’s ‘Top 20 Live Acts’ for three years in the early part of his career. In 2016 he launched his label RUKUS, releasing music from emerging and established artists alike. Spanning genres and formats he has made music for Sky TV and British Airways, his vinyl-only series Cyclone is firmly rooted in techno, whilst the stream only album Tuesday presents an exquisite take on ambient. His collaboration with Zurich’s Tonhalle Orchestra again highlighted his dexterity as a truly authentic musician. 2020 sees the launch of Matador’s podcast series focusing on studio gear and featuring interviews with touring artists. His new live performance ‘Live 2.0’ is also forthcoming and will feature hotly anticipated new music.
