After a short stroll through a cave system you come out to a clearing surrounded by monasteries.  A bedouin tent awaits with my decks set up waiting for me to take us on a expansive journey. The following ensued.

Never Stop Dancing is a mix series focused on amplifying house, disco, and techno. The mix series aims to highlight the incredible talent in the Kootenays and the surrounding areas. The intention is to share the creativity of up and coming as well as established DJs and producers. This mix series is dedicated to the house and techno lovers who may find themselves on the first or last on the dance floor. For those who find themselves dancing so hard they have no words to speak. Local Kootenay luminary, host of cozy gatherings and dirty turbo ecstatic dances, electronic music aficionado and all-around beautiful human. This, and much more, is how I would describe Suk Kerata. When I met Suk on a dance floor a few years back, we immediately connected over our shared love for the slow and sultry side of house music. Over the years, we’ve spent hours dancing and growing as DJs alongside each other. Suk’s creativity and evolution as a DJ have kept his sets a fun, creative, and moving. 

This set, titled “Winter Bardo," speaks to Suk's ability to seamlessly blend ethereal and hypnotic tracks to create remarkable sonic journeys. I love the distilled sections of the mix that bring my focus to each sound. The vocals and minimalistic percussion truly foster a meditative listening experience. I hope this set gets your body moving, as it did mine. Enjoy. <3

Sharing my set from the cheeky dance floor we created in the Delicious kitchen of Relish on the early hours of Saturday morning.  It was a real pleasure to come together with such a great bunch to celebrate after what has been a whirlwind of a summer.  And turns out this set captures many tracks special to me over the past few months 💛 some groovy some moody and described by many as 'chill not chill', which is right up my alley!

Big love and thank you to all of you relish family for welcoming me so warmly, it’s been a real treat creating these memories with you!

David Juno @ Relish Festival 2023

Pinerolo is a restaurant in Oslo. I was commissioned by the owners to compile and mix three mixtapes. Their directives were rather vague, lending me an opportunity to pick from any genre, not care too much about how commercial the tracks were and just create an eclectic but cohesive compilation that would contribute to the relaxed vibe at Pinerolo. This is what I did.

I like nature and music and I like deep dives into the depths of my own mind.

It’s becoming more and more obvious that my mind is really busy - way too busy. It is always exposed - constantly receiving and absorbing, processing and changing.

I have therefore become more cautious of what I want to let into consciousness and taking regular breaks from the endless stream of stimuli and simply paying close attention to my mind has helped me pierce through the spellbinding clutter of unstoppable thoughts. To me, what reveals itself on the other side is a profound state of
calm. A calm from which natural curiosity, playfulness and love can spring freely.

Music is a channel where I express this natural playfulness that I believe we all share deep inside. Playing my music on top of the Robot Heart bus at their ten year anniversary was one of those precious moments where I felt you were responding to this - we were playing together.

When you express a similar joy and playfulness to that which I create the music with we set a beautiful feedback loop into motion. Getting eye contact with you and seeing how me and my wobbly harmonica notes crack you up into a big smile affects me and really fires me up. 

Your response inspires me to create more and feel more and
express myself more. 

I would like to send a big fat virtual hug to everyone who rode their bikes deep out into the playa that morning and to Robot Heart for  making me part of the family.

 To honor the lovely island of Jamaica, this dj set is simply my favorite feel good reggae tunes.  You will hear dub, conscious dancehall, lovers rock, ska,  and traditional roots reggae songs. Jamaica's musical influence is also heard in some Latin, West African, Turkish, Arabic, and Isreali tunes as well.  I really tried to tell a story with the songs, so I encourage you to listen closely to the lyrics, which speak about uniting together, becoming a better version of your self, the problems and challenges with money, the joy of smoking marijuana, everyday struggles, living good, and of course, LOVE. Almost all of these tracks I own on vinyl, and I had such a blast recording these all week long, just vibing on down memory lane, in preparation for  this set. Once upon a time, a young man named David Juno from the green and mountainous lands of southern Germany first felt the soul-stirring beats of melodic deep house, downtempo, techno, and the spectrum of electronica in the unassuming town of Jena. Over the years, he has refined a collection of music imbued with the distinct taste of his European realm.  Now, residing in the distillery of cultures that is Aotearoa New Zealand, he concocts harmonious brews that enthrall listeners at large and small gatherings; clandestine woodland rendezvous; thundering, pitch-black basement blowouts, light-speed gigs aboard gleaming spaceships, and even interdimensional celestial soirées. He has become a familiar face at XCHC, Ōtautahi Christchurch, holding court both behind the turntables and on the dance floor, and a cornerstone in the mysterious outfit known as Mary Hush.

David Juno is a sonic conduit, channeling the energies of spectators and dancers, linking them to the symphony of sensations, emotions, and the cosmic tide that characterizes the human odyssey. His sets oscillate between the blackest voids of space and the blinding brilliance of distant supernovas, with all the celestial nuances in between.
