Took a couple of the machine samples fed them through Sampler and Echo with lots of feedback in Ableton, and then through the Max patch WaveResampler.

I recorded the ambient sounds sat by my open back door for the length of time it took me to read an essay. I then made a drone from the car horn at just before 3 minutes (using Sampler, Echo, Valhalla Reverb and a little compression in Ableton) and layered this over in ever decreasing lengths and increasing pitches.

I like the idea that any intelligence we do detect won't be interested in us and just pass us by (see Arthur C. Clarke (don't want to spoiler the specific book), ʻOumuamua) so I imagined this piece as a sparse collection of different contacts across the vastness of space passing by from a distance.

I used contact mic, coil pickup and other field recordings with added reverb, delay and bit crushing along with sounds from 0-Coast and Jogging House's sample pack.

ʻOumuamua (disquiet0453)

The Agnes Martin exhibition at the Tate Modern in London in 2015 is one of my all time favourite exhibitions so enjoyed this one a lot. I chose The Islands I (1979), made up of stripes of two almost identical colours divided by broken lines.

I set up two tracks with a granular piano and used the less_concepts M4L device to trigger midi. I used LFOs to control the rule, speed and clock in less_concepts. I also added clicks recording from the 0-Coast to represent the broken lines.
