For this new episode  we are very happy to host Juliette aka Lunar Maria. The first time I met her we had a cup of tea, in the Père Lachaise Graveyard in Paris, it's an important detail to understand the character.
Juliette is very talented with the exercice of ambiance building. The universe she carries could be drawn  as wonderful « cabinet de curiosité »  filed with  bones , dust, dead flowers , old painting , and rusty sound box. As she loves romantic and decrepit things, for this episode, she decided to design a toxic forest atmosphere, that would perfectly match with nausicaa, or the lord of the rings for passage.

Mix serie 02 -  Lunar Maria "Forêt Toxique, Forêt magique"

For the past five years, Glyn Maier has developed a curatorial agenda for his enmossed label with an emphasis on recyclable and sustainable materials while living and recording within secluded natural environments. His level of dedicated praxis is illustrated with his latest 𝐸𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑀𝑖𝑥, concluding a dense output of 19 long-form listening cassettes. Capping the ENMX series run, 𝐸𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠 𝑀𝑖𝑥 is a deep distillation of the sonic agenda within the series and the label more broadly. Maier is keenly attentive to pace and spatial context, allowing for time to stretch, interweaving lush field recordings and emotive new age passages. All audio in this mix, just shy of the two hour mark, is culled from cassette recordings of classic 1970-80s field recording series (𝐸𝑛𝑣𝑖𝑟𝑜𝑛𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡𝑠, 𝑆𝑜𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑢𝑑𝑒𝑠, 𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑂𝑐𝑒𝑎𝑛'𝑠 𝑅𝑒𝑙𝑎𝑥𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑆𝑢𝑟𝑓, etc) with their core utility being to invoke relaxation. Maier’s intentional recycling of materiality is an homage to respect for the environment, and in turn he is rewarded with bountiful environmental sonics to reshape. As the formal attributes of his selection process are in lockstep congruence with his lifestyle and production output, so does this chapter of the label's output come full circle.

Glyn Maier is a sound artist and field recordist living in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. Non-city outdoor spaces are essential to Maier’s practice. With a formal education in physics and music composition, Maier’s preoccupations with natural objects, landscapes, and their social histories guide his recordings, which are then integrated into ambient electronic works utilizing organic rhythms and complex timbres. Maier’s abstract synthesis work is deeply informed by sound design, but his larger focus is on the agency of both machine and environment.

Montréal-based musician and composer Kara-Lis Coverdale gives concerts made for full body immersion, multi layered through multi timbral synths, her computer a virtual organ engine. Couched in symphonic, post sacred tonalities and harmonies, the music on Coverdale’s releases Aftertouches (on Sacred Phrases) and A 480 (on Constellation Tatsu) uses virtual sounds from vocal and instrumental sources to confront traditional genres and consolidate them in the artist’s own precise ways. Currently an organist and music director at St. John’s church in Montréal, Coverdale contributed piano and keyboards on friend and mentor Tim Hecker’s Virgins album in 2013 and most recently has collaborated with LXV (musician David Sutton) on their 2015 album, released by Umor Rex. Her live set for MUTEK 2015 draws on that album and recent compositions of pipe organ, sensorial electronics and glittering drones while leaving room for inspired improvisation.
