Beyond the incredible venue, production, and beautiful collection of humans, there were three things that made set this extra special for me: opening the room to an empty dance floor, having the DJ booth in the center of the room, and playing the most original music I’ve played in a set. 

I rarely get to build a room from zero anymore, so I took great pleasure in playing records early on that are subtler, slowly building tension as people trickled into the venue. Having the booth in the center made it much easier for me to sense what the people sonically needed as the night progressed - we all were locked in for the last hour. 

I also blended the ambient room sounds with the mixer output capture the spirit of the night. You’ll hear the excitement of the crowd match the energy crescendo. When I listen to the set, it almost feels like I’m transported back to the party. 

It a very special gig, and I’m grateful to Robot Heart for having me play.

Born and raised in Ibiza, Valentin Huedo grew up surrounded by seductive tunes and grooves connected with the astounding nature and free-minded people. He grabbed the core of the island and understood the way music transcends us and make us bond with ourselves and with each other. And since then he’s been projecting it both in the island and all around the world.

The full recording from my all night session at StereoBar in Montreal on the 8th of September for Les Beaux Dimanches. 

Returning home from my first Burning Man experience only a couple of days before, this night was an opportunity to channel and express a uniquely inspired energy. This week in the desert was many things, but more than anything it was an affirmation of the power of art and music. It deepened my gratitude to be participating in that and to have the chance to connect with people through music, especially in places like StereoBar. 

Getting to reunite with many friends with whom I had shared this BM  experience, as well as so many treasured Montreal friends and dancers was really special. It created a type of intimacy and togetherness that only happens when many things line up just right. 

The energy throughout the night was unforgettable.

In January my ears decided to start acting up and has altered the course of my musical passion. I cancelled all my gigs from February to April to let my ears rest for FF. I planned to make this my last set for a while. And what a perfect booth for that set. The year before I got to close out FF with a 9 hour set with Anton helping me hold down the fort till we made it rain.  I think we may have opened up the faucet and forgot to turn it off. 

The Bot and it’s booth have given me SO many magical musical moments. Welcoming sessions at the Gate. Burn Night sets with Swamy warms my heart when i think of the emotional journeys we created together. A sunrise set that turned into a 5 hr one on one tag team set with Lee. A spontaneous 11 hr sets with Benjamin that ended with 2 CDjs being added and Lee and Greg joining. The next year we brought rain and lightning as we woke up the playa family style, that morning a forklift with a bleacher full of peeps joined the party madness… twas epic. Last year a solo night time musical journey that brought up the sun and kicked well into the morning. And many more moments that blend with time and dust, sweat, blood (my clumsy self) and sunburn with my playa family!! beep beep! <3 <3 tear tear.. 

What to play? I wanted to make this set special and play a few gems from my past while lacing it with some current favorites.  I went thru my music and collected 100 tracks and one NSFW Prince tribute. The tribute was the only track I knew I was going to play, the rest of the set unfolded on its own. I invited my good friend Dave Kim to play some electric violin, which he crushed.. Thank you Dave. My emotions ran high for this short but loaded set…  Hope you enjoy… much love Dill!

John Dill - Further Future 002 - Robot Heart

Chloé has, without a doubt, led an entire generation to her electronic music playground – one that goes beyond strictly club and techno.
Chloé is a composer, meaning she gives life to an artistic idea. And working with electronic means allows for the possibilities to be expanded tenfold. 
The challenge is to keep a kind of certainty in spite of the doubts that arise throughout the creative process. It is precisely this inner questioning, this contradiction (and the decisions that provide solutions to it,) that
nourish and motivate Chloé's work.
As much a film music enthusiast as an accomplished guitar player, she stumbled into the electronic scene early on, developing an unwavering curiosity for sound machines. 
Her appetite for vinyl would substantiate a DJ career full of subtle explorations. 
Since her first EP, Erosoft (2002), Chloé, not satisfied with merely stringing together purely functional tracks, has been telling stories.
Many EPs and remixes would follow, on labels such as BPitch Control, Live at Robert Johnson, Kill the DJ, My Favorite Robot, or Throne of Blood, and would open her up to headlining gigs at clubs around the world, having built a reputation for sets that thrill by the sense of coherence with which she reconciles eclectic styles.
An obsessive seeker of new sounds, she assembles and blends together unlikely tracks, creating subtle contrasts that come together into singular mixes. Her two LPs fit within this narrative continuum: The Waiting Room (2007) and the Victoires-nominated One In Other (2011), with their deft handling of aesthetics, have stood the test of time.
This desire to eschew readymade formulas, and her constant research into musical and human matters, gave her the impetus to start her own label, Lumière Noire.
