Let's go "deep space electro" on this first VA EP from Spanish label NNY Records (No Name Yet) featuring the work of Nicson (Flumo Recordings), Matei e. aqir (All My Thoughts), Pablo Diskko's new project I See You In My Pants... and F. Vinuesa, from Solid Tapes. 

The latter has been living in Madrid all his life and undertaking projects of all kinds. You may know him for the various works he published for the last five years under numerous aliases such as Doma, Vacuum Exploration or Sacred Things. These aliases coexist together under his own name, F. Vinuesa, more aimed at House, Acid... with a Lo-Fi treatment. He founded the label Soulless Lab Records and is also responsible for the cassette-only label Solid Tapes on which he signed different Spanish producers. 

On this VA EP from NNY Records, he approaches Lo-Fi and Acid paths with the space-and-time-bending tune "Highlands". A superb and an essential work to discover here.

An endless scroll, an infinite lifetime of pointless images and meaningless nothing. From time to time a notification would flicker and bubble in the corner of the screen - a red alert with little to no urgent emphasis in the slightest. This was IG Messenger, a world of the unknown and a burden upon men and women of the modern age. When would it ever end? All that was left was a quick break from the machines, a period of sleep and rest away from the flashing lights and the distant drag of endless media. 

Eliphino is set to release a new EP on Secretsundaze, a personal affair with poignant meaning attached. The production is exquisite and intricate, the tracks sprawling and layered to perfection. This one comes highly recommended.

They say consistency is key and since their inception in February, Gallery haven’t let up on the release front. Today’s no different. GLRY003 comes courtesy of AK SPORTS (Madi Carr), an EP beaming with energy. ‘Polarize’ has brunt and might, it encourages a loss of inhibitions, sweat and dance hard, however the hell you like! 

Forever championing womxn and non-binary people in the music industry, Madi has gifted us tracks on ‘Polarize’, that’ll have people from all walks of life eager to rave as one. Having commanded the airwaves of UK tastemaker station Balamii, alongside folks such as Chaos In The CBD and Ross From Friends, Madi’s had a brilliant platform to share underground tunes with the masses. This certainly isn’t AK SPORTS first foray into release land either, having piqued the interest of labels both locally and in the Eurozone. Imprints like Of Leisure, Tooflez Musik (Berlin) and Start Local Records (UK) have been chuffed to press her tracks. 

There's a nice spread on ‘Polarize’, a full range of emotions, from the injection of dubstep styled low ends, playful, light percussive and vocal tones of UK Garage and driving nods to techno and uplifting jacking house. Lovers of breaks, bass and sharp percussion, this one’s for you. The opener ‘A Flash Storm (And Then It Was Gone)’ is a menacing recipe of tech stabs and clapping breaks. A2 ‘Houdini’ is a brief reprieve from the wee hours, a shimmering and uplifting roll of synth. Flipping over comes ‘Dit Quelque Chose’, a reappropriating of the breakbeat AKS we already know and love. Translated into English meaning ‘say something’, Madi uses myriad of drums as the driving force for the track. The result, a personal and cathartic release. A comment on that anxious, silent air between two people wrapped in a feud and the insecurity that manifests. No samples here either, Madi happens to be bilingual. Then there’s ‘Tank Girl’, a fun and ultra bold serving, an experimental nod to a spectrum of UK underground club styles. A record that possesses an inherent drive to get out and cause a stir! Be sure to glimpse the official video.

Produced by Berlin based visual artist Stacie Ant, the clip teleports AK SPORTS and her crew into a desert landscape, where they lay waste to a bald monster. A humorous rejection of the male gaze and a celebration of movie badasses all over! Closing things out comes a remix of ‘A Flash Storm (And Then It Was Gone)’ from Madi’s Scottish pal AISHA. A member of the popular techno label SOMA, AISHA knows her way around hard-hitting club runners. Expectedly, the edit is like being in a boxing ring against an opponent with very quick fists. 


After the pandemic took hold, Madi returned to Sydney, immediately laying down a fervent sent atop Gallery HQ. Since then, she’s escaped up the coast, bunkering down in isolation to write a bunch more heat. Keep it locked.
