The Deadbeat Apostles are an Oxford 5-piece soul, blues, rock and roll outfit “infused with a punk spirit that doesn’t trample too hard on the soulful rock’n’roll that is their stock-in-trade”. Angry, political, dressed up to the nines and having a ball. Their songs are a rallying cry for the oppressed and soulful calls for action whilst reminding you why music is your first love.

Oxford-based guitarist / singer / songwriter. I also play in Bug Prentice, but this is just stuff I do by myself.

Singer-songwriter, 1950s-inspired guitarist, and loop-maker Emma Hunter, together with the trip-hop-inspired percussionist Tom Bruce, and creative bassist Hayley Wright, create complexly evocative soundscapes, filled with dramatic Lynchian atmosphere. Intricate melodies and rich Chanteuse-Esque harmonies lie at the heart of every darkly imaginative soundscape crafted to indulge the listener in sun-blistered cinematic escapism. 

Emma Hunter is an experienced singer and songwriter, with performances at the main stage of Truck Festival under her belt and extensive touring experience in her former bands. PJ Harvey, David Lynch OSTs, Imogen Heap, Ennio Morricone, Portishead, The Shangri-Las, the mysticism of Ancient Mexico and Catholic imagery coalesce in her collective of muses. Sharon Van Etten and Anna Calvi are her most prolific comparisons.

Tom Bruce is a highly-in-demand drummer who spent much of his youth playing percussion in orchestras; consequently, he plays in several bands in Oxfordshire that seek his Blur & Radiohead-inspired percussive flair. The two artists joined forces in March 2019. Since, they have played the main stage of Truck Festival, Cornbury Festival, the Oxford 02 Academy, Riverside Festival, Party in the Pews, The Bullingdon Arms and other venues across Oxfordshire, London and the UK. They frequently feature on BBC Radio Oxford and have been played on radio stations in over 30 countries throughout the world. 

They have had feature length interviews for many music magazines including two front cover features for Nightshift Magazine. They have also won Oxfordshire song of the year twice: once in 2021 and again in 2023. This was with Nightshift Magazine and with Get Radio’s Melting Pot radio show. Their highly anticipated album Yolanda was released on the 12th September and they will shortly start a tour of the UK in Autumn 2025 as support for the band Unbelievable Truth.
