John Shaw is a Singer/Songwriter and musician. Born in Australia on July 3, 1992 he grew up in Perth where his interest was mainly sports. However, John held a secret passion for music and at the age of 13, he began to teach himself the guitar when he and a group of friends decided to form a band. John did not realize his vocal abilities, but when a band member overheard him singing The Red Hot Chili Pepper’s classic “By the way,” he immediately became their front man.
The band play through high school and in 2008 they entered and won The Battle Of The Bands Competition by playing the song “Tomorrow” by Silverchair. In 2009, they took 1st place in The Starlight Foundation Fundraising talent contest by playing The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ ‘Give it Away.’ The band was well on its way, but in late 2009, when high school came to an end, John was the only member who continued to pursue music. 
In in the hopes of a solo career, John devoted himself to writing and composing his own music. He performed at open mics and solo gigs in small pubs and bars all over Perth. With a set list of over 30 covers and originals songs, he mesmerizes the crowd with his smooth smoky voice which keeps them guessing as to what he will do next. Most of the covers were videotaped and posted to YouTube, where he currently has over 200,000 total video views and overwhelming positive feedbacks. In addition, John marketed himself and his music through Soundcloud, Facebook, Twitter & Reverbnation. 
After a year, the hard work paid off and in the mid-2011, DeAudrey Downer, record producer and owner of SoonSoom Records overheard John’s tracks on Soundcloud and contacted him. Eventually, an agreement was made and John was signed the Florida based record label. His first official cd entitled ‘Be Mine’ is in the works and will be released in early 2013.

The well recieved "Carparks and Cigarettes" acoustic/hip-hop track will go on to see Mikka teaming with hometown spitter "Treble1" for what seems to be the beginning of a full length album. Broadening the horizon with concrete plans to collaborate with Dubstep, House & RnB artists, stir in a Metal producer, shake another Hip-Hop cardinal in the mix (all yet to be announced) and winter 2012 is looking like quite a treat isn't?

Awakening from the back of tour vans, strangers floors and ash littered rehearsal rooms for most of his teenage years, ‘Mikka’ has bitten off his fair share of the east coast touring lifestyle. Leaving the turbulent on road shambles he finally lands back into his humble hometown of Newcastle.

The transcending singer/songwriter has set to stage alight with an acoustic account of his shifty backstage stories, the vicissitudes of romances, homesickness and displacement, and the intervention of family and friends along with everything in between.

The wayward gentlemens' solo performances to date, have been described as mix of strong and subtle melodies grounded by punchy rhythms. The overall sound is a paradox to the heavy, distant, aggressive playing technique enforced in his past projects.
