The man of the moment - @ewanmcvicar, stepped into the Subbie booth on his debut All Night Long set, bringing the heat down to @alluneed-inyerarea. Laying down five hours of the highest vibes & party starting club tracks, all delivered with that trademark smile & boundless energy. Safe to say Scotland has found its newest Prince, long may he reign.

The mix was recorded in the heart of Sisyphos, during a heavy rain storm just before the start of the party. More for home listening than dancing, a spacious trip through roughly 20 years of timeless synthesised music. Combining some of my older favourites with current ones. Mostly sourced from vinyl and with a focus on sounds you could find at Clone in Rotterdam. There are a couple of vocoder tracks, the robotic & rolling basslines, the stepping and raw rhythms and some solo synth flourishes. Stylistically I wanted to collect some sounds in anticipation of some kind of electro revival that probably will never happen, but you never know with the cyclical nature of music ;)

IM MIX 110:  Enzio Etchaberri

We're extremely pleased to deliver the next edition of our mix series, in the form of this 3 hour chugging masterclass from Leeds legend John Paynter (@yeadonred).

With his origins in Punk bands and the social phenomenon that was acid house, John has been there and seen it all. 

The journey eventually led to the beginning of his DJ career at Outlaws Yacht Club in Leeds, then soon after was playing regular warm ups for a certain Andrew Weatherall at Todmorden's Golden Lion. 

John currently runs a record label, party and online music community known as Paisley Dark, which shines a light on the current zeitgeist of post punk inspired dance music in Leeds and further beyond, whilst regularly operating charity fundraisers for Shelter.

Tune in and we hope you enjoy the mix, we most certainly did ⚔️

Every year we get to know new producers and labels that catch our attention, and Future Bones and Tici Taci rec. are without no doubt in that list, all the way up to the top.

They released their first self titled EP in March of this year on Tici Taci Records, followed by 2 more releases, 'Pain killer' and 'Dirty profit' and have done remixes for Rich Lane, Tronik Youth and Duncan Gray (this last one to be released in December 2014).  We will be also releasing a track of them on Play Pal's new comp, beginning of next year and are excited to know it will just be the first one.

A unique blend of electronica, live instruments and vocals that makes them definitively one of our favourite artists of the moment and it's our pleasure to consider them part of the Play Pal crew.

The Sprechen mixtape series gets a relaunch of sorts with a whole host of new & firm fave music pickers & players delivering a selection of superbly selected & sequenced sounds plus the occasional live recording!

Its with the latter that we kick things off here with Sprechen's head of brew making Massey with a live recording of a recent warm up spot he covered for label friend Gina Breeze who was holding a launch party of her latest single on the very fine Nervous!

90 mins of slow to fast stylings with bags of groove, soul & vibes from head nodding to semi bangers with plenty of Sprechen sounds peppered throughout.

WotD - Back to the Breaks is the 1st recorded Breaks mix since 06 other than a retrospective mix done for Waveform Transmitter several years back. 
During the 00's Jonny Mac (WotD) toured the world playing Nu School Breaks in the best clubs and festivals around as well as promoting Breaks nights across 3 UK cities.
After playing on Pikes Terrace in July 23 on A B2B with David Phillips he and David ventured into the forgotten Breaks territory and its taken a few months since then to find enough good new Breaks to record a mix , But here we have it, its taken almost 20 years, Enjoy

Our latest mixtape entry drops from our most recent label family members Acolyete, a new project of Joe Morris & Tom Gray which doffs a cap and drops a dove or 2 to the hazy days of warehouse raves & sunrise sessions that went on for days!

This mix reflects that vibe totally and in Joe's own words "No messing around, 2 hour club set packed with energy and dance-floor power!".

No easing in or classic warm up, just straight up bangers which deserve a crank of the volume knob from the get go.

Future Bones Collection 2014

One of the good surprises from 2014 was finding out about these two french producers or more fairly, musicians. It is not common being so known within our scene and haven't yet released almost any of your tracks but that's the case of these 2 guys. They've been focusing on producing for 2 years and it is now when several of their best jobs will finally see the light.

The only track they've released so far it's a remix they did of the tune 'Tears' by Date With Elvis, earlier released on La Dame Noir Rec. Starting next month, we'll be finally seeing their debut on Astro Lab with the track 'I Wanna See The Light' (only Ivan Smagghe's remix has been released so far), an outstanding remix of Mushrooms Project's 'Yess' we'll have the pleasure to include on the next Play Pal Ep and in March, finally their debut on Correspondant with the track that got the attention of most of us, 'Something Is Wrong', already an anthem for some of us who've been playing it for a year. On top of all that, we'll be including their track 'Galactic Pot Healer' on Play Pal's next comp out in April. And that's just the beginning of the year.
Their sound could be described as a cross between new wave, psychedelia, a passion for synths and anything in between as showed in the mix they've recorded for our Series. The first hour more conceived as a selection of tracks and the second one as a proper mix.

Really happy to have them on board on the label, definitively one of the artists to watch out in 2015 and the following years.

When you already like a producer's work very much, have been playing his tracks for many years, know he's one of the references in our scene and looking for more detailed info to use on this text, the first thing you read on his bio is this: "Tronik Youth has remixed over 75 records over the last ten years and released over a dozen singles", not sure what else can you add to that...but to mention also Nein Records, the label he runs with his friend and partner Ian Considine since 2012, has also become one of the main labels within our scene, counting both with renowned and young artists but keeping always the quality of their releases at the top.

Like the 2 hours set he's recorded exclusively for us, full of great unreleased and released stuff.
