Sooriyan (S-uu-ri-en, “sun” in Tamil) is an association of DJs and musicians of South Asian origin. With this platform, we want to celebrate South Asian creativity, strengthen it and connect with our diaspora, which is often invisible in the Swiss cultural scene. There will also be some South Asian inspired specials for you on site. Come by and find out what it is!

Today, Sooriyan will be hosting Summer Camp Radio from 5pm to midnight. First up is Nive, DJ, an experienced booker and organiser behind many projects in the Zurich club scene. She will be followed by Ashwini, a dedicated vinyl selector. Her home is literally the nightlife. When she’s not behind the DJ booth, you’ll find her in the record shop “Sihl Records” or behind the bar of a hot party.

We will also have the pleasure of hearing a live set from niram, who recently released her first EP “IN BTWN”. Besides her solo project, she is also part of the bands Sirens of Lesbos and babycurls.

The last two Lucerne DJs, KUMARI and baby vouithu, draw their inspiration from genres such as Detroit techno & house, bass, breaks, rap and Jersey club. The second to last set will be performed by KUMARI. In their words, “Look forward to Punjabi Garage tunes from the 2000s mixed with Hot Ass Booty Shake Music”!

Finally, DJ baby vouithu provides a groovy, dirty set with hip hop and rap influences.
