Slovenian label Cogo are about to drop their highly anticipated sophomore release. Welcomed to the roster on the new vinyl package titled VA.01 are Ukranian Stanislav Tolkachev, Inigo Kennedy, Samuli Kemppi, and label co-owner Tonske returning.

Inigo Kennedy is one of the UK’s most revered techno artists having crafted an outstanding sound as far back as 1996. His seminal releases on the likes of Tim Taylor’s Missile and Kr!z’s Token alongside a multitude on his own Asymmetric imprint, cement his new music as essential listening.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the Inigo Kennedy track titled “Lucid” that focuses on a sci-fi atmosphere. Bleeping, modular tones and additional layers create a hypnotic groove that captivates with perfect blend of tension and analogue knob-twiddling.

In just a few of years of operation Mitsubasa has been releasing vinyl and digital EPs featuring artists like Rove Ranger and Specific Objects, already proving it’s a label with an educated ear. Standing for “three-wings” meaning soul, heart and mind the newest release MTB005 is yet another exciting entry to their catalogue featuring more great talent like Benales, Zadig, Tsuyoshi Ogawa and Gerald VDH.

Zadig is a Paris-based artist who is known for his influential vinyl only sets and having made appearances on Tresor, Oscar Mulero’s PoleGroup, DJ Deep’s Deeply Rooted, Arnaud Le Texier’s Children of Tomorrow and his own imprint Construct Re-Form.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his track “Atlantic12” with a raw and punchy groove. The rolling, detuned modular tones expand and contract to create a constant building tension while highlights arrive by clutters of claps and bubbling textures to create a heady jam.

DT:Premiere | Jonas Kopp - The Corner [Concepto Hipnotico Rec]

Adam Beyer and Ida Engberg come together to create a new track after the success of the highly acclaimed 'Lovecraft'. ‘Unanswered Question’ uses a weighty kick drum and a sensuous vocal before the track breaks into some groovy synth stabs. Julian Jeweil’s remix of ‘Unanswered Question’ is a late night dubbed out version that compromises of a groove that pulsates throughout and falls into the original synth stabs before rising back into the funky, dubbed out groove. The Dense & Pika remix uses unusual percussion to produce a chunky groovy rhythm. When the track breaks it takes the listener on an eerie journey before it kicks back in to the chunky drum beat. The final track ‘Virga’ is a more melodic techno offering that finishes the single off with a classy finish.

Each specific track has it own unique character that brings an outstanding and electrifying aspect to the compilation that as a whole makes it something extremely special. Mixing both highly experienced and new artists has helped to bring a new dimension to the compilation that makes it such a special array of tracks.

Returning to Wolfskuil for his third release, after his early 2013 debut on the label is Amsterdam-based Doka, with a three track EP including an original production, ‘Ask’ and featuring two stellar,
yet complimentary remixes from two Spaniards, NX1 and Aiken.
Doka, following consistent in his style delivers a raw melodic track, stripped down with pounding percussions while an unrefined static dances above the beat. Barcelona-based NX1, manipulate the rhythm of the synth into an elegant hypnotic drive. Alternatively, the Madrileños, Aiken, hailing from Non-Series and Semantica, gives the track a whole new flavor as a throbbing bass sends vibrations through your body while agitated chords flutter throughout the piece. All three tracks, intense and pulsating, prove to be powerful tools that can easily be thrown in to climax any set.

We have a firecracker for this DT:Premiere from exciting Spanish artist @C-System, owner of @MFM-Records and co-owner of @Morforecs alongside Horacio Cruz. He is resident DJ at the Industrial COPERA in his hometown of Granada where he has played alongside Carl Cox, Dave Clarke to John Digweed.

His original track taken from the release is driving from the word go with a small subdued break before relaunching into the tectonic ride again. Throw in an electro edge with a feeling of tense chaos for a great combination that will tear any floor in two. The remix comes from the excellent Italian DJ/producer @Electrorites to round off a super single release.

A classic 1997 techno-record really, though it stretches quite a bit further than just pure techno. It was a major leap forward for Dri whose former output comprised mostly of trancy stuff (of both the slow and fast variety). Tracks here vary from electro over full-blown techno to minimalistic ambient scapes. There's even a drone-track, 'Turmoil', which feels oddly out of place, but is a sign of Dri's ambition to release not just another techno record. Stéphane Dri succeeds on almost every level even though the record isn't exactly groundbreaking or anything. Most of this was already done (and even better) by Juan Atkins. Though to Dri's merit, hardly any of the tracks feel like filler (except for 'Blue072C' which feels much the same as the superior 'Red Dogs'). Standout-tracks are many and include the menacing electro-techno of 'Wasteland' (also released as a single with some additional remixes), the slow deep minimal techno of 'Wood' and the over-the-top freakiness of 'Red Dogs'. 'Voodoo' and 'Secrets' deserve good mention as well in my opinion as they bathe in a dark claustrophobic atmosphere. Dri promised a lot with this record, but to this day, he hasn't really delivered. 'Lost', the record's successor was more limited in scope and somewhat disappointing. Though you may feel I was a bit hard on Dri here, this really is an excellent record. You can't go wrong with this one if techno and/or electro's your thing. Great listening. 7.5/10 


Scan X - "Earthquake" - from "Chroma" album

The time has finally come for the boss of the much charted, often played Suara label to serve up a debut solo EP all of his own. Full of sexy Latin grooves, it has already picked up plenty of plays from top tech house DJs everywhere and "Belize" is quite possibly going to be one of the Ibiza summer anthems of the year. Said track pairs shuffling drums with plenty of little sonic details and lush melodies to come over like a South American tech house tune ripe for the dancefloor. It’s humid and sweaty with plenty of human voices and weird what sound like monkey noises all nestled in the grooves. "Aruba" is just as complex with many percussive lines weaving in and out of warm, diving drums and basslines.  Excited crowd noises add some charm and jazzy little keys really bring a sunshine element toward the end. A fell good track, for sure. The final track is another original, "Santiaguito’"but this one goes a little deeper and further into techno territory. Taught basslines and free roaming synths canter along, constantly melting into one another and working hard at hypnotising you and melting your mind.  Its one for the late night hours and is arguably Coyu’s best track to date. Artwork by GaAs. Mastering by Affkt. Label Management by Miracle.
