Slovenian label Cogo are about to drop their highly anticipated sophomore release. Welcomed to the roster on the new vinyl package titled VA.01 are Ukranian Stanislav Tolkachev, Inigo Kennedy, Samuli Kemppi, and label co-owner Tonske returning.

Inigo Kennedy is one of the UK’s most revered techno artists having crafted an outstanding sound as far back as 1996. His seminal releases on the likes of Tim Taylor’s Missile and Kr!z’s Token alongside a multitude on his own Asymmetric imprint, cement his new music as essential listening.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the Inigo Kennedy track titled “Lucid” that focuses on a sci-fi atmosphere. Bleeping, modular tones and additional layers create a hypnotic groove that captivates with perfect blend of tension and analogue knob-twiddling.

In just a few of years of operation Mitsubasa has been releasing vinyl and digital EPs featuring artists like Rove Ranger and Specific Objects, already proving it’s a label with an educated ear. Standing for “three-wings” meaning soul, heart and mind the newest release MTB005 is yet another exciting entry to their catalogue featuring more great talent like Benales, Zadig, Tsuyoshi Ogawa and Gerald VDH.

Zadig is a Paris-based artist who is known for his influential vinyl only sets and having made appearances on Tresor, Oscar Mulero’s PoleGroup, DJ Deep’s Deeply Rooted, Arnaud Le Texier’s Children of Tomorrow and his own imprint Construct Re-Form.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his track “Atlantic12” with a raw and punchy groove. The rolling, detuned modular tones expand and contract to create a constant building tension while highlights arrive by clutters of claps and bubbling textures to create a heady jam.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his track “Baubaus” is a bleeping, hypnotic trip. The subtle, dub techno tones and winding modular sonics paint a dystopian picture told with a delicate emotional and electronic character.

Austrian label @Drowne Records are on the verge of their new release next week. Ran by Altberg & Tony Vegazz, they have a great underground ethos featuring artists like Sutter Cane, Chris Colburn, XHEI to Krenzlin and many more.

The latest “Textures EP” from DT favourite @RicardoGardunoMusic who we featured recently, gets the remix treatment from Netherlands based rising star and Affin stalwart, @KeithCarnal.

The track itself gets a stomping and slightly more melody driven twist, with sparse atmospherics that create a dreamy ambience. Slowly building tension and a euphoric edge take hold, with subtle soundscapes and hidden details, this can work in many stages of a DJ set and was our choice for this “DT:Premiere.”

Rapid Eye Movement is an interesting new label project that start things off with a wonderful wax entry from the owners themselves known as VII Circle.

The launch release Archetype has a deep and soulful core, where the original tracks are full of atmosphere and emotion. Subtle, moody and stripped back allowing elements to breathe, they hold up to the notion that less is more.

The first of two remixes is from Amsterdam based Keith Carnal who brings his Midas touch and to no surprise, delivers the goods.

Farrago is a name change of a Belgian artist who is really stepping up to the plate and showing his worth. His take on “Alpha” was our choice for this DT:Premiere as he throws caution to the wind and makes a storming rework. Creating a perfect storm of tough beats and harmonic synth lines, the eerie and gothic style will definitely pick up a dedicated following of Techno heads…

Kill Ref Low Frequencies aka KR/LF Records is a techno label from Italy launched in 2016. Headed up by label boss Kill Ref, the catalogue lists music from producers such as Developer, Charlton, Endlec and more. The spine tingling compilation released this month curates 24 tracks from a sensational line-up of talent including artists already featured on the imprint, alongside new blood like Oliver Deutschmann, Ben Gibson, Patrik Skoog, Housemeister, Progression (UK) to name only a few.

Pulling together such a strong cast can only result in a mouth watering proposition, and of course, we are not disappointed. Variety that moves between techno and electro, Saturn Phases shows how a perfect combination of ambition and focus results in something magical… where tough, gritty, analogue beats appear in many forms with industrial flavours, to hypnotic trips.

The track we selected for this DT:Premiere is from the Berlin based Lithuanian Under Black Helmet who has been turning many heads of late on Code is Law and Bas Mooy’s Mord. His track “Perpetrate” is an audio onslaught of power and precision. An instant classic, it uses a maniacal rolling lead over a pounding beat that is ferocious and driving with a single purpose to be a DJ’s secret weapon.
