EvilGroove, a techno label rooted in the United States, was co-founded by Lindsey Herbert and Jason Doll. Known for its support of both established names like Truncate and Dustin Zahn, as well as emerging underground talent, EvilGroove serves as a platform for diverse sonic expressions.

Hailing from Stuttgart, Germany, BR!NK brings to the table a formidable production repertoire on Move to the Groove LP, with his music gracing esteemed labels such as Robert Hoff’s trau-ma, DifferentSound, and Synergie.

Adding their touch to the release by way of remixes are Sira, a Belgian producer making his return to EvilGroove following a VA contribution and releases on AESIR, Transmission, and Pengan Records, as well as the mighty Drumcell.

Drumcell is a revered figure in the Los Angeles techno scene and who now runs his own vinyl pressing plant called Onyx. Renowned for his mechanical soundscapes, Drumcell’s work has found homes on prestigious labels like Rødhåd’s Dystopian, Chris Liebing’s CLR, Blank Code, and his own, now dormant, DROID Recordings. With collaborations alongside Speedy J and remixes for artists ranging from Dubfire to Alex Bau, Drumcell’s contribution with a new spin promises to elevate the superb release to new heights.

For this DT:Premiere we selected the his remix of “Reach” that begins with a thundering groove. Stabbing rave-like notes pierce the high-end giving it an old-school feeling, while the dense and pumping percussion make this fierce rework sound absolutely massive.

As a part of the renowned PoleGroup label, which has shown artists like Function, Tensal, Jeroen Search, Reeko, Jonas Kopp, and many others, Warm Up is an imprint of the legendary Spanish artist Oscar Mulero.

Having started his career on the cult label Prologue and released his latest music on essential platforms like Delsin to Edit Select, Italian Claudio PRC has become one of the most well-known names in deep and dubby techno, and his newest EP is titled Drifting Northward.

Enlisting the label head for the sole remix, Oscar Mulero brings his renowned cyclical sound to the release that has also been contributed to influential labels like Kr!z’s Token and P.E.A.R.L.’s Falling Ethics.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his remix of “Focal Zone” with new percussion elements and a far-out sound. Morphing, modular synth tones create a smokey, dystopian design with a heads down groove that will mesmerise the senses into a transformative trip.

Germany’s Snork Enterprises has 18 years of music releases under its belt by artists like DJ Shufflemaster, Headless Horseman, Alexander Kowalski and Stanny Franssen in its back catalogue of raw techno gems.

The second entry to the new vinyl series welcomes back MasCon from Germany who has a 20 year production history including Bas Mooy’s Mord, Ricardo Garduno’s Illegal Alien and Nachtstrom Schallplatten.

On remix duty, Sunil Sharpe is a key Irish techno don who’s known for his ripping vinyl only mixes and productions for the likes of Ellen Allien’s BPitch to Labrynth and his own Earwiggle.

For this DT:Premiere we selected Sunil Sharpe’s remix of “Cabernet” that has a thumping beat with abstract vocal hits. Punchy kicks and jackin’ clap rhythms are met with a stabbing main riff and wild sound effects adding a crazy twist to this analogue stormer.

Cogo is a Slovenian label who have a quality over quantity mantra having already featured music by Stanislav Tolkachev, Inigo Kennedy, Samuli Kemppi as well as remixes from Volster and Magna Pia.

The newest release VA.02 follows a 3 year hiatus, but they come in style by gathering a strong collective consisting of Dutch artist Jeroen Search, Belgium’s Border One, Spain’s ORBE, and label co-owner Tonske.

Netherlands star man, Jeroen Search, is up there with the best in my book. Releases on Kr!z’s Token, Ben Sims’ Symbolism and Len Faki’s Figure show his pedigree and he supplies another functional and dreamy, spaced-out jam.

For this DT:Premiere we selected his track “Observer” that is a trippy and wonderful jam. Showing his hand with a sci-fi shakedown of modular bleeps and subtle tension locked into its sharp yet wonky groove.

Obscure Shape, a German-based artist from Brazil, is at the forefront of the movement, having managed events and performed at some of the biggest venues and festivals worldwide. Amid a crossfire of colorless carbon copies of a long-forgotten idea, Jason Patrick’s latest effort makes a luminary statement. The Images of Light EP arrives by way of Bay Area electronic music label Peer. Each of its five tracks casts a purposeful shadow across the boundless void that is modern techno.

Psychedelic yet functional “Code Cracking” is the second track on the release. A metallic orator laments over its digital shackles on the high end while borderline Gregorian atmospheres seem to taunt it from below. Only in the final few bars do the two reconcile.

Only Peer could provide a home for an artistic statement like the Images of Light EP. Well into its third year, the imprint has eked out a niche in the refined yet experimental range of the electronic music spectrum. Contributions such as that of Jason Patrick project a bright future out ahead for Peer and its tight-knit community of supporters

“Xpx997” ushers in the effort with uncanny brightness for a cut otherwise defined by dissonance and atonal foley effects. Radiant bursts rip through a layer of exospheric noise, halted by an organic drum groove at the hearth of the soundscape.

Next on the EP’s tracklist is the psychedelic yet functional “Code Cracking.” A metallic orator laments over its digital shackles on the high end while borderline Gregorian atmospheres seem to taunt it from below. Only in the final few bars do the two reconcile.

“Foreshadow” portrays the precise sonic imagery suggested by its title. Subtle and slow burning, a coarse veil of tension wafts its way down from overhead, flickering madly like negative film reel footage of a wind-hewn flame.

Eliciting an immediate visceral reaction is the exceptionally produced “Off World.” It leads with dissociative oscillations, ratcheting up the intensity with each new layer added to the arrangement. By the time a unique double breakdown cuts through the cacophony, haunting mechanical whispers fill the track’s negative space.

“Interpretation” closes out the Images of Light EP on a sullen note. Cold ambiance lays an unshakeable foundation for this contemplative palette cleanser. As the occasional stereo artifact rattles its way up and down the dynamic range, the listener is left to reflect on all that they’ve taken in.

Sounds From NoWhere is pleased to premiere a new Spencer Hardwick' track remixed by Jason Patrick on 'Vast Recordings'.

After leveraging his imprint to provide a platform for deserving talent in techno, VAST Recordings boss Spencer Hardwick has offered up the label's third release. 
The Introspection EP takes clear inspiration from the Blade Runner films and their challenging narrative around self-referentiality. 
It comprises of three original singles as well as two remixes by Jason Patrick and Mike Derer.

Label head Spencer Hardwick, who has previously released on JAK's SubSensory, personifies the VAST ethos with his own captivating version of its artistic philosophy. 
Spencer's electronic music style, which is experimental but true to tradition, creates a cerebral tangent between layers of beautiful, progressive ambiance and artistic, atonal noise. 
Groove is still crucial throughout, and the desire to support and advance the community that has developed around techno is the primary motivator behind this astute balance between what techno is and what it can be.

USA-based Mike Derer kicks off the remixes with over 20 years of industry knowhow from running an artist agency, hosting events and of course beat-making. 
His music can be found on his own Northern Parallels imprint, Myles Sergé's (MS), and also remixing for the likes of A.Paul's Naked Lunch.

Second on remix duty is Jason Patrick from Chicago, who appears following acclaimed releases on iconic labels such as DJ Hyperactive's 4 Track, Submerge's Impact Mechanics, Jeremy P Caulfield's Dumb Unit, and From 0-1.

"Are These My Memories" ushers in Hardwick's body of work with a distinct sense of urgency. 
Wandering synth lines fall and intertwine repeatedly in a hypnotic haze, referencing the cognitive dissonance that might be caused by not trusting one's own memories. 
Unintelligible spoken-word samples only add to the psychological intrigue.

The second track of the EP, "Is This Real" depicts an increasingly tenuous and fleeting grasp of reality. 
Tense arpeggios and melancholic atmospheres evoke a sense of intense introspection and uncertainty.

No concrete resolution lies in store on Hardwick's final track, "Why Can't I Tell Anymore." 
Its warbling melody poses more questions than answers, raising the stakes as each sonic layer enters the arrangement. 
The effort thus opens a door for Hardwick to explore similar themes in upcoming works.

Adding dimension to the EP are accomplished American artists Jason Patrick and Mike Derer. 
Jason's remix reimagines "Are These My Memories" with dubby, reverb-soaked chords, keeping the tempo high while instilling more dynamic intensity throughout his rendition. 
Mike's remix of the same track casts it in a psychedelic light, complete with resonant percussion and glimmering stereo artefacts.

What are our memories? What is reality? What is being alive? How can we know for sure? 
In the Introspection EP, Spencer Hardwick proves himself capable of transmuting such riveting quandaries into music. 
In doing so, he carries forth techno's rich legacy of taking cues from science fiction, hinting at what's to come from his rapidly growing discography.
