This is what I often play for myself while I'm trying to decide what to play next.  I have played this piece for many years and have finally decided that there is no such thing as perfection as far as this piece is concerned.  It's rather like the "whack-a-mole" at a county fair -- take care of one problem and another crops up.  So, I am just going with it.  Problems and all. (I've listed the lyrics below because they define the essence of this piece.)

Jan Schonander invited me to participate in his Four Seasons for Piano project with "summer" as my assigned season.  Since I am no Vivaldi I reached back to the Tin-Pan Alley "Good Old-Summertime" (1902) for inspiration.  Not really an arrangement per se, but rather a quote.

A song about the northern lights and their mysterious appearance in unusual circumstances a long, long time ago...

I hear the cries of winter I cant stand to see the sight
Like waves they came crashing but now lie  still there in the night

Its far too late for many lying on once peaceful land
I wonder who if any fell directly by my hand

The morning brings a shiver as I lay behind the  wall
But I cant stay much longer as I hear the fallen call.

Shadows cast by the setting sun another days work is done
Close my eyes but I can't sleep through the long cold night

I feel the light burning in my eyes as I gaze at the distant sky
All around me I can see the northern lights.

When I sent @Rosindust a very first demo, the piece still didn't have a name. She asked me on WhatsApp "Ok, how do you want me to play it?" and I replied "Nervous, furious like... like.. Wait!" and I sent her a picture of Medusa from the famous painting by Caravaggio. :)
Actually this piece is a kind of playful revenge: her last piece she asked me to play had guitar parts that were difficult for me and when I recorded them I swore revenge to her with a fiendishly complicated piece for 2 violins :) But, as always, she was so brilliant! Best described as eclectic, my style is a soothing mix mirroring my personality: mostly mellow with the occasional outburst. Although I have a background in classical piano I have always loved to create and improvise.  Since early childhood I have been trying to duplicate on the piano what I hear in my head.  Now I see how formal studies and improvisation fit together perfectly. I hope to always keep growing and learning, reflecting the beauty of Christ in all my endeavors.
