Over the course of the summer, I’ve had the pleasure of DJing ‘poolside’ at Pikes Hotel in Ibiza several times. It’s a completely different approach to my usual DJ sets. Laidback vibes in a chilled daytime setting around that infamous Club Tropicana piscina. 

Here’s a set I’ve put together that captures that style. From low slung, dubbed out Balearic grooves to off-kilter psychedelic electronica to glorious sunkissed soul. And everything inbetween! With love from Ibiza x

'Pikes Poolside Mix' - Summer 2025

Deckert versatile musical path began in the mid-2000s, playing in a postcore band during the emo wave. Soon, his curiosity pushed beyond guitars and heartbreak lyrics, inspired by indietronic and the French new rave movement that bridged rock and electronics. After experiencing his first raves, he noticed the lack of underground parties in his native Ruhr area, so he and friends launched Sunday daytime dance events-where his first DJ sets took shape.

In 2008, fate led him to join Jennifer Rostock as bass player, touring for a decade and relocating to Berlin, the heart of techno. Immersed in its scene, he befriended producer Aaaron, sparking his own productions. Their debut, L.D.O.E. (2017), became a breakthrough on Connected, followed by releases on MoBlack, Frau Blau, LSF21+, Stil vor Talent, Monaberry, and TAU.

From 2023, Deckert teamed with rising talent Ede, creating the post-punk electronica anthem Immer on Gerd Janson’s Running Back. The track became a Panoramabar favorite and a staple in major DJs’ sets, leading to further collaborations and shows at Sisyphos and Watergate.

Beyond DJing, he is half of the live act Deorbiting on Oliver Koletzki’s label. His eclectic sets flow through house, indie, and organica, with flashes of trance-crafted with a keen sense for each crowd. Deckert has carried his sound worldwide, from Tokyo to Istanbul, Croatia to Tulum.

"I haven't recorded a mix in the studio for ages, so it was nice to spend a bit of time putting together some tracks and getting involved with the blends. I've been doing a lot of deep house digging recently, so there's a fair bit of old stuff on here, as well as some newer bits and the two tracks from my new LNOE release. Hope people have as much fun listening as it was to record."

A Deeper Groove was born in a flat on the south side of Glasgow. Both it’s Parents were children of the acid house revolution who spread their wings to Manchester, Dublin, London, Spain and eventually settling on the West coast. The sound is an amalgamation of influences and cultures from 30+ years on the dancefloor and in the booth.
