His journey into the realm of DJing began with a fascination for turntablism, scratching, and the technical craftsmanship behind the art. The culmination of these experiences is a remarkable blend of skill, musicality, taste, and boundless creativity.

5COTT's career has taken him to cities far and wide, collaborating with esteemed DJs and leaving an indelible mark on the industry. With a discography dating back to 1996, his production and remix work have graced numerous labels. His accolades include Dj Awards and other prestigious honors.

Deep Army (Est Nov 2012)

If you were to ask where it is you could find something edgy, something with hidden flavor (both local and beyond SA shores), something blessed with heart and a whole lot of talent you may be excused for trying to find it in the eyes of the new crew on the block “Deep Army”.  These three producers from Johannesburg are set to take the “new urban” market, in South Africa, by storm.  Deep Army are Big D, Easy, and Densch.  

Big D and Easy, better known as “Beat Army”, have come seemingly out of nowhere in the last few years and in a very short space of time they have become regulars on the Jo’burg scene extending their reach into the coastal towns around South Africa.  As Beat Army, they have toured extensively across the country over the last few years etching their name firmly into the minds of promoters and music lovers alike, countrywide.  Never shy to deliver solid performances all over the show, playing H2o main stage, multiple music festivals, and just about every club you can think of from Johannesburg to Durban, to Cape Town and back again, the guys from Beat Army are exactly the kind of DJ’s/Producers an already clogged industry needs to rattle a few cages and to inspire the new generation of producers and DJ’s, to not only become better at their craft but to be better people in the process, and to never lose hope that all things are possible with a whole lot of effort and a little bit of faith.

To those that know them there is nothing new about the energy they bring to DJ’ing as a whole, it’s a simple standard that never changes much like their passion for production and teaching the art of DJ’ing to young people through their endeavours at the Soul Candi store in Johannesburg where they have authored the curriculum that is taught to students interested in learning the art of DJ’ing.  Lots has been said about Big D and Easy, but one thing remains, their passion for music and people alike shine through over and above everything else.  Their personalities resonate with people and they know how to connect.  One gaze of them up on the decks at Nicci Beach where they are regulars or at The Sands where they currently enjoy a residency is surely enough to convince.  Add to this their production capabilities and you will quickly learn that beneath the quiet faces that are Big D and Easy, there are two characters hungry for something that only actions can explain.  Their rise has been admirable, what comes next then, won’t be a surprise, and why should it? It amounts to natural progression.  With their creative nature tied into the business brain that the two of them have become, its only a matter of time before they, together with the 3rd group member, will set South African ears on fire, and, in time, the international stage.  

So, how did they go from Beat Army to Deep Army and who is the third member?  A random meeting between three friends that didn’t know they knew each other is how Deep Army was founded.  It’s a real “in mom’s garage” story, born out of a hunger for the next step, for live performance, and for bringing the best possible sound to the masses.  It’s time for you to meet Densch, the vocalist, lyricist, and one third of Deep Army.  Densch has not only surprised his Deep Army band mates with his wealth of production knowledge but as a collective Deep Army enjoys the experience he brings to the show, both from a technical perspective but also in a creative sense. With over 15 years of production experience under his belt Densch is a shining example of what happens when one never gives up.  Once told it’s often those that never give up who make it, Densch has enjoyed minor success in various genres under different personas.  To Deep Army then, he lends his voice, his know how, and his cheeky grin.  A choirboy at the age of 5 for a number of years, it’s no wonder he has ended up here.  Together with Big D and Easy, Densch has helped bring Deep Army to life through his well-placed lyrics and on point vocals, covering real world life, personal experience, and a whole lot of love for words and music, and that moment when you truly connect with something you’ve heard.  

Fast forward from November 2012 when the “Deep Army” conversation first happened to March 2013 where the three got to celebrate the signing of their first EP after a few months of slogging it out in the studio, here is where it starts for real for the three Jo’burg based producers.  The road ahead is a tough one for the three that make up Deep Army.   They have many lessons to learn, many people to meet and many hearts to touch, and many ears to get on the Deep Army bus.  The changes are set to come in thick and fast as they continue their climb, but coming to a set of speakers near you very soon will be new music, from new faces, with a new message and certainly a new flavor.  

Keep an eye out for the guys from Deep Army as 2013 is set to produce some super exciting results for “Big D, Easy, and Densch”.

David Morales is a globally revered American DJ, a Grammy award-winning record producer, songwriter, and businessman. He has produced and remixed over 1000+ records for an all-star roster of multi-platinum artists, including Mariah Carey, U2, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Madonna, and Whitney Houston. A true legend of house music, the global phenomenon and penetration of dance music into Top 40 radio would not have been possible without him.
More recently, Morales launched DIRIDIM Records in 2018. With this new label, David is signing and developing new talent - and naturally, releasing some of his own music. DIRIDIM celebrates all kinds of dance music, ranging from the classic house music sound Morales is known for to straight-up electronic sonorities. In January 2022, Morales released "Life Is a Song", his first full-length studio album in almost 10 years. Produced during the pandemic lockdown, the album featuring artists, Mr. V., Blakkat, Elle Cato, Michelle Perera, Lea Lorien, Blondewearingblack among others, quickly gained an international following eager to hear more and skyrocketed up Traxsource's album chart to #1 for three weeks. His unquenchable thirst for newness is precisely why this native New Yorker remains at the top of his game into the new decade - “It’s about keeping an open mind,” as Morales says. In 2020, due to the global pandemic and inability to travel, he launched, Sunday Mass, a livestreaming show on Twitch to entertain his fans across the world. The 2021 IMS Business Report based on data, cited him as one of the dance music artists who experienced online success during the pandemic. Into post-pandemic times and with the reopening of clubs all over the world, David continued his legacy as a native New Yorker and trailblazing DJ, constantly gracing the best international stages with recent standout performances such as the Hacienda Warehouse Project in Manchester, Clockwork Orange in London, Stereo Montreal, EDC Vegas, Hi Ibiza, and After Caposile Venice. In 2024, David Morales is holding a residency at the legendary Pikes Hotel in Ibiza during the summer. A pinnacle in his repertoire is also the ongoing success of the Sunday Mass parties in NY, featuring both club nights and legendary boat parties during the summer. These events stand as a testament to Morales's enduring impact as a true legend on the house music scene. On top of this all, David is on the brink of releasing a new LP, 'Sunday Mass Vol. 1', the inaugural installment in a series with more to come in 2024. As we venture into 2024, expect a flurry of news and projects, with the new year expected to be a more than ever prolific one for David Morales.

David Morales has transcended musical genres to create a global brand. His music productions have appeared in popular films and television shows, including The Devil Wears Prada, Ninja Turtles 2, Don’t Mess With the Zohan, and Star (TV Series). His DIRIDIM radio show can be heard on Ibiza Global Radio and numerous other stations around the world which is streamed to millions of listeners around the world. In 2016, Morales was the lead judge on “Top DJ” a national television series broadcast on Italia 1. When it came time to wear his fashion model hat, Morales appeared in a global advertising campaign for luxury design house, Iceberg. 

HISTORY
David Morales honed his skills as a DJ in the 1980s and 1990s at such legendary clubs as the Ozone Layer, Paradise Garage, Red Zone, Zanzibar, Tunnel and Club USA just to name a few. When the remix and DJ work began taking off, Morales teamed up with house music legend, Frankie Knuckles, and For The Record DJ Pool founder/NYC nightlife impresario, Judy Weinstein, to create Def Mix Productions.
Morales’ prolific production career kicked into high gear in the 1990s with the release of his solo debut album, “The Program” by David Morales & The Bad Yard Club. In the late-1990s, with hundreds of remixes (Mariah Carey’s “Dreamlover,” Janet Jackson’s “Throb,” Alison Limerick’s “Where Love Lives,” CeCe Peniston’s “Finally,” Jamiroquai’s “Space Cowboy”, Jaydee’s “Plastic Dreams,” Robert Owens’ “I’ll Be Your Friend,” under his belt, Morales recorded the groundbreaking house classic, “Needin’ U,” under the alias David Morales Presents The Face. Morales’ second album, “2 Worlds Collide,” arrived in 2005, followed six years later, by his third album, “Changes.” 
David Morales was nominated for his first Grammy Award in 1996 as a Producer on Mariah Carey’s album, ‘Daydream’ for the song ‘Fantasy’. In 1998 he won a Grammy Award for “Remixer of the Year.”
Though Morales’ past is surely one for music’s history books, the DJ-turned-artist always has his eyes firmly focused on the future—on what lies ahead. He keeps an ear to the ground, regularly exploring new music, new artists, and hotly tipped DJs who might inspire him to “go and do my homework.” He happily embraces the new generation of clubgoers. “They don’t care about yesterday”, he says, with a knowing smile.

Alikened to Björk, Portishead with a dash of Cocorosie, Vieka moves through you in a whirl of challenging stories and sounds created by all manors of electronic geekery that can be harnessed, beated and whipped into shape.
