LUXXURY's 'i wanna be EVERYTHING' is L.A. based disco aficionado Blake Robin's most unabashed love letter yet to 70s dancefloor culture. With a soaring falsetto chorus that audaciously recalls the sexual hysteria of peak time Studio 54 divas like Loleatta Holloway, Chaka Khan and all four Gibb brothers rolled into one, it’s definitely a cocktail for adults only. But it's not just about sweat and sex as much as its a desperate plea to be heard, understood and loved in an era when distractions are everywhere. "I wanna be EVERYTHING" is the battle cry of the unappreciated, from the spouse suffering through years of marital silence to the Tinder date whose match spends the night mindlessly scrolling their social feeds. “Hey, *I* wanna be what you need!"

The song has long been the big closing number at LUXXURY's shows, both as a four piece live band opening for Giorgio Moroder, Escort and on NBC's Last Call with Carson Daly; as well as at his DJ/live hybrid performances at SF's Outside Lands, Festival No.6 in Wales and dozens more from London to Mexico City. Longtime collaborator Billy Caruso cowrote the song and contributes his trademark melodic Rhodes playing, while Fitz and the Tantrums' bassist Joe Karnes once again takes a Robin bassline and re-interprets it with added muscle, his deft touch adding delicately nuanced semiquavers to the song's thumping heartbeat. 'The song was initially written three years ago but it's taken ages to get it right' says Robin. 'Once I replaced my bass take with Joe's, the song sprang to life. That was the special sauce it needed to properly pop out of the speakers.'

LUXXURY's previous single 'Be Good 2 Me' was featured in the new XBOX game Forza Horizon 4; a series of collaborative singles and a full length album are in the works for 2019.

When Sophie Lloyd produced ‘Calling Out’ she set out to create a track that would be uplifting in a time of doom and gloom, taking inspiration from the most uplifting of all genres, gospel. The vocals offered from soul trio Dames Brown along with Sophie’s impeccable understanding of disco and house made for a shining record, a breath of fresh air in the world of dance music. The record’s timeless qualities inspired remixes from Danny Krivit and Floorplan and now David Penn takes his turn, turning the record into a certified club cut with a driving bassline, while maintaining the soul and spirit of the record that made it so special.

Homework - unlike their lower case counterpart that serves as the agony of school kids everywhere - are responsible for shaking up house music in a big way in 2010. Calling their “Fissa Tune” EP on Exploited Records a “breakout record” might be an exaggeration because it’s hardly the duo’s debut. However, the title track showed a comfort and skill for transforming a Romanian traditional oboe song into a full body shakedown jacking house track adorned with guttural yelps, and “I Got One (You’re It)” loops a warm soul diva vocal into the kind of siren song that could seduce any kind of dance floor. It was one of those EPs where you couldn’t even choose a favorite because they’re all so good. Following it up with an equally heralded EP on Made to Play and a big, wild, often unexpected remix package on Exploited, Homework (comprised of Zip &amp; Tom) succeed in something many other people haven’t lately; making dance music that’s equally satisfying for your feet and brain. With a full schedule of international gigs (including Berlin's Panoramabar) and top remixes in the pipeline (Round Table Knights a.o.), Homework provide a unique and diverse sound and guarantee serious business behind the decks. As a teaser for their next EP on Exploited, to be released in February 2011, we present you with "Lenny", which takes Lenny Kravitz’ seminal track “I Belong To You” and turns it into something infectiously catchy. Whether its "true revision" or “the ’stick a kick drum on it!’ philosophy”, Homework have taken a commercial hit and turned it into something so lush that maybe even Larry Levan might have played it out. They took those 90's sentiments and rearranged them to be retrofitted in this era; pure revisionist nostalgia. Although in the end, it’s all about the way it makes you move.
