Gandalf works his magic to spoil your mind ...

He’s now resident dj and part of the art direction of important city festivals such as Movement Torino and Kappa Futur Festival and he’s been booked as guest for parties (Dude, Il Suono, Glucose…), and festivals around Italy (Nature Beat in Rome, Aurora Festival in Lecce, Forevergreen in Genova and Milan, Bardonite…). In March 2013 he also had the opportunity to play at the French techno club Concrete, and in early 2015 he had his first gig in Berlin at Griessmuhle, followed by an appearance at Karnival Der Kulturen Kreuzberg. Summer 2015 he as been booked for the "Numa" party in Tokyo, Japan, and in October 2015 he was guest of the infamous "Staub" party in Berlin before returning at About Blank for the "Away meets Genau" party in 2016 and at Kosmonaut in 2017. In April 2017 he returned toJapan where he performed at Dommune and at Unit in Tokyo.

The Botanist is a Brussels-based DJ and biologist. This youngster started deejaying at the age of 16, playing at local parties with a friend dragging him into the scene. They started off as house DJ’s, but as they kept on searching for new music, they hit the jackpot: Techno. Sometime later, they started a local techno concept called Bunker, and invited DJ’s as A. Brehme, Cellini, Farrago, Kiani & His Legio, Tom Hades and Ortin Cam. Their last party was in Leuven with Lars Huismann straight from Berlin. 

However, after a few years their visions diverged, so each of them went his own way, starting his own project The Botanist. At that moment, he discovered vinyl and fell instantly in love. Eager for more black gold, he kept digging while his collection, as his vision on Techno, grew. He played at some local raves in Maastricht (NL) (w/ 2+2=5), Trauma in Leuven (w/ SPFDJ & DJ Ibon), De Serre in Hasselt, Radio Scorpio (Club106) and reached the finals of 45Toeren DJ Contest. As of lately, he hosts free Techno parties in 't Gewelf in Leuven named Phobia.

Inspired by the diversity Techno has to offer, he seeks to combine all sorts of vibes in a fluent and dynamic way. A touch of by-nature-influenced soundscapes, hoovering melodies over a galloping bassline, pounding broken drum rolls,… These are the elements he operates attempting to present a story.
