The Alchemical Theory project was born in 2018 from the creative union of three italian producers. The identity of the project has been very influenced by the favorite sounds of the three artists, ranging from modular electronic sounds to much more atmospheric elements. This project also comes from the love of mysticism, alchemy and nature. In each release they want to represent something that affects the listener's mind, reproducing a real mental journey.

For DSS060, their approach is exactly the same.

Just in time for the onset of winter, Dan Thorman’s mix is here to keep us cosy. A soft blanket of healing sounds in muted tones and gentle textures, Dan’s mix is a beautiful story which provides a quiet comfort: an insulated cocoon of warmth to retreat into.

Dan is someone who gives some of the best hugs going, and always smells amazing too. He’s a kind and sensitive soul, with an easy laugh and excellent taste in music. He has a real gift for making everyone around him feel brighter and happier, and his mix is no exception. A perfect soundtrack for curling up on the sofa with a steaming cup of tea, and a good book 🕯️🧡

The mix builds up from subtle drifting mists, into glistening tones and resonant chords. Evolving at an unhurried pace, and in a delicate manner, as one track morphs into the next, washes of sound dissipate into the fuzzy notes of an organ, or the muted hoots of an owl 🦉🍃

Rich in acoustic instrumentation and sounds from the natural world, it brings to mind looking through a fogged window at trees being buffeted by strong winds, or the last light of sunset seeping away behind a hill. The mix draws to a close with a cerebral drone, slowly waking us from a mesmerised trance, and leaving us feeling both rejuvenated and restful. For the past 4 years, he has been exploring the deep, hypnotic sounds of the electronic scene, blending the pulsating rhythms of techno detroit techno with the immersive textured atmosphere of dub. His style is characterized by vibrant bass, resonant echoes and minimalist synth lines that create an enveloping sonic space, perfect for long dance sessions. He is influenced by pioneering artists such as Basic Channel, Robert Hood and Vril. With several EPs to his credit on the Ancestral Process label and several shows on Rinse France, he will captivate you during a spellbinding Dj set.

The winter breeze whispers through the barren trees, a crisp melody of nature’s quiet song. It rushes past, carrying the scent of frost and the hush of snowfall, its voice a blend of soft sighs and fleeting murmurs. Sometimes, it howls through narrow spaces, a ghostly wail that speaks of distant storms. Other times, it hums gently, weaving through branches with a delicate rustle.

Emerging from the innovative mind of kugebe ✺, åthlete embodies his vision of Techno and Dub with a distinctive edge. Based in the city of Nuremberg he embarked on his musical journey in early 2016. Initially delving into the realms of Ambient and IDM, his sound has evolved dramatically ever since, embracing more deep and hypnotic rhythms, often intertwined with Broken Beats, Dub Techno and Acid. His focus is on the creation of rich and uneven sound terrains, often unexpected yet serving the full spectrum.
