For the 48th instalment of our podcast series, Introspective Electronics founder Lucie Stepankova aka Avsluta steps in with a live recording of her DJ set at last month’s Ambient Tide, a Brussels-based listening event series run by our dear friend and fellow ambientist Kato De Vidts. We couldn’t imagine a better setting for this set to take place ~ the floor fully covered in rugs and cushions, low hanging lanterns emanating soft warm light, the scent of palo santo drifting through the air and focused audience listening with patience and curiosity 💆🏻‍♀️

Avsluta is a London-based producer, DJ, live performer and event curator navigating the liminal spaces between ambient and dance music. For the past 8 years, Lucie has been deepening her musical knowledge working behind the counter at Phonica Records, catering to London’s ambient and downtempo heads on most Saturdays and making a few good friends along the way. She runs Introspective Electronics as is actually the person writing this text, which does feel a little awkward but it has to be done. Together with her friend Alicia, she runs Terra Obscura, aiming to make clubbing cozy and on ocassion, curates solo or collaborative ambient events as part of Introspective Electronics ✨

Just shy of two hours, this mix weaves a thread of hopeful softness made for moments of deep relaxation and focus. Voices and gentle rhythms ebb and flow atop lush drones, giving way to arpeggiated passages, spoken word and field recordings. Recommended listening at dusk, in a candle-lit space, floating on a pile of cushions and wrapped in fluffy blankets with a mandatory cup of steaming tea 🍵

Contributing our latest episode is London’s ANNX, a regular figure within the city’s cutting-edge undercurrent whose many contributions include co-curation of the Whomp, Perspectives, and once-shrouded Magick events, and a residency at the beloved Above Below festival. Anna’s tireless dedication to the scene goes hand-in-hand with her unmistakable talent behind the decks, as evidenced by an impressive repertoire of mixes and set recordings, and which I was fortunate enough to witness first-hand last summer in the Chilterns. Here Anna demonstrates her well-honed craft over the course of two meticulously plotted hours, diving seamlessly into manifold forms of deep, heavy psychedelia before emerging in a wave of euphoric bliss. When we first covered Les Chaos Ambiants, it was clear they weren’t aiming for the usual festival formula. Instead of big stages and brand sponsorships, they’re focused on how electronic music and art can interact with local identity and environmental urgency. For 2025, the festival returns to Sommant, right in the Morvan Regional Natural Park, continuing to build on this concept. There’s still just one stage, no clashes, no sprinting between acts, but now there’s added weight on multidisciplinary art, from Adrien Lamm’s sculptural installations by the lake to workshops exploring endangered species through sound and visual design.

The lineup remains eclectic but united by atmosphere, curated once again by Alfonso Pomeda, who’s also the artistic mind behind Barcelona’s Mostra Festival. The full lineup for 2025 includes ABSIS, Alcachofa, Avsluta, Faery, Fran Campos, Lynne , Merovee, Metshka Pampo, Myles Dillon, Nems-B, Orsu, Owl, Toé, and Sybil. Les Chaos Ambiants seems designed for people who treat listening as an experience in itself, a festival where silence and subtlety can carry as much weight as rhythm or volume. Which brings us naturally to one of this year’s standout additions.

Let’s be honest: some artists play music; others change the room around you. Owl belongs firmly in the second camp. Just a few weeks ago, he opened the infamous “La Cabaña”, the ambient and experimental temple at Perpendicular Festival, with a set steeped entirely in lush, enveloping ambient. It was a lesson in subtle power, transforming a cavernous space into something intimate and weightless. It wasn’t flashy, but it left everyone exhaling like they’d just remembered how to breathe. Owl’s ability to craft this atmosphere without ever sounding forced makes him a perfect fit for Les Chaos Ambiants. Here’s an artist who understands that music in a pine forest doesn’t need to shout. It only needs to glow...

Berlin-based sound artist Sarah Wreath is dedicated to harnessing the transformative power of music. Through frequencies, sound research, and music production, she explores the alchemical properties of sound and its profound effect on the body and mind.

For Sarah, there is no hierarchy between producer and DJ, nor between the club's dancefloor, the acoustic hall, or the meditative sound bath.
