@biocym is an artistic project from Italy that seeks to awaken emotions by expressing it's feelings towards reality and the use of atmospheres and scenarios reflected in its sound. The main nucleus of his work reflects the attitude that man must embody in order to move in a dark and inscrutable reality that he must face when he inevitably explores it.
Biocym represents the way in which the artist approaches the way of awakening in himself by contemplating the infinite variety of landscapes of reality and proposes his progressive deepening. His music is the meeting point of his two influences: natural sounds and those other sounds generated by his creativity.

And just like that.. Another festival season is gone. As a closing-greeting & to celebrate Prior Act’s Nr 50, we’re happy to bring an exclusive set recording:

Alex Tomb isn't just an over-20years-practicing Dj/(Later on, producer, on Several Reasons & Capparis Spinosa - his own label - amongst others) and a techno figure in his homeland (Cyprus): he's been keeping on pushing to generate quality and  enthusiasm around techno music since his returning. As such he naturally took part to the quite recent Emotions festival, located in the "Angel’s Hills Resort" in Nicosia; a gathering of both local & International ambitions, that has reunited names such as Dasha Rush, Amandra, F-On.. as well as emerging artists.

Thankful & super pleased to get this opportunity focusing/shedding light on his work (the excerpt isn't to find anywhere else and was recorded last June). Alex not only shows us there's other horizons beyond Berlin and his various  [past] residencies @[Griessmüehle/KLUBD/] STAUB (<-- still active), but his unextinguished passion for the craft. This >>Techno<< set excerpt ranges from minimal influences, techno with powerful beats, to more subtle, soulful, psy playfulness - as well as melodic bits, where spontaneity and honoring detroit/housey vibes has its spot. More resonates as an invitation to let go & dancing in the joy of present moment, leaving spaces here and there to rest and look upwards. A simple, yet powerful Techno's spirit celebration, free of tags, small-boxing, and as much a reflection of his long years of (crowd management/)practice. All of which under the stars, close to the mountains and a breezy sea. ..

"Alex Tomb was born in Nicosia in the 80s. Mainly a DJ for 20 years and music creator slightly after, with residencies at legendary klubd, Nicosia for over a decade, and at STAUB, Berlin. He had releases on various European labels such as STAUB, Several Reasons, as well as his own label Capparis Spinosa.
An experienced mixer with precise attention to detail, a very delicate touch and effervescent resonance. Alex directs the listener through deep explorative trips that play with the psyche. A musical dialogue filled with colours, changes of perspective and almost life-changing dispositions."

It is undeniable that we are living in uncertain times. For those of us failing to fit the patriarchal, neoliberalist mould we have lost hope in the future. We can see capitalism is not working but we cannot yet envisage an alternative. We discover that the stability we were instructed to obtain whether it be financial, political or ecological, is fleeting, if at all. The resulting anxiety is an instrument of neoliberalism that prevents many of us from being able to raise consciousness of the structural injustices that alienate us.

In a world where security is no longer feasible, the only constant we can rely on is change. Barad teaches us that the world is a dynamic process of intra-activity and materialisation, an ongoing ebb and flow of agency. The Buddhist Law of Impermanence proves that nothing in this world is eternal.

Regardless of ones point of reference we can understand that every aspect of life, physical and mental is in flux and perhaps this transience is the only thing we can depend on.

Each month we invite an artist to ruminate on these ideas and create an hour of relief from these anxieties. A temporary suspension of reality, where the listener can speculate on alternate modes of existence that reject hetero- patriarchal systems of oppression.

This month we have invited @hydrangeamusic to respond to this concept.
