Stumbling upon an LTJ Bukem mix cd as a teenager, a love for drum ?n bass manifested itself early in Watcher (Arjan van Vliet). After showing much promise as a humble bedroom dj, he set out to make club and radio appearances all over Holland alongside some of the scene?s biggest names, establishing himself as a sought-after opening dj and earning him a Dutch Drum ?n Bass Award nomination in 2007. 

Today Watcher is a seasoned and well-rounded dj who continues to hone his craft and perfect his signature brand of deep, tight and rolling drum ?n bass sets. 

But he also mixed a dark ambient set with ice cold tracks that brings you in a isolation. This mix is highly recommended for headphones!!

Going up? 

The inspiration to do this mix got pretty much initiated when I was thinking about the progress over the technological revolution what humanity has witnessed over the last few millenias. The outstanding effort to evolve as species through knowledge is what gives a promising framework of potentiality for mankind's future. 

But not without setbacks and heavy burdens when it comes to these dramatic changes in the climate that we've boosted and set in motion, and thus becoming the biggest challenge we must overcome. It's a long, bumpy road, We must take to succeed!

This mix was also very much build and motivated with the visionary images from the futuristic skyscraper city landscapes and then continued even further to the space exploration and thus the overall idea of humanity's potential trough science and technology as - a new hope to thrive!

Starting from a bit melancholic atmosphere in a rainy midnight neon city lights and building it to a new dawn filled with uplifting excitement and emerging new hope with awareness that not even the sky's the limit for human race(s).

A mix of intense ambient combined with deep dub and dubtechno layered in lots of atmospheric sounds. Enjoy this special 80th chapter of the Deep Electronics Podcast!

Bio:

Emanuele Pertoldi was born in a small village in the North East of Italy. After
releasing music with his own name and founding different projects like Evasion
Room Records (with RIccardo D'Agostini), in 2013 he started a new alias, Shaded
Explorer, with the aim to represent himself in a more intimate way.
The description of the project says: "Shaded Explorer lives in a place where the
music is hidden behind a dense fog and dreams are suffocated by an unpromising
reality. This stimulates him to continue his research of magical places around the
world, being them ethereal landscapes, deep cenotes or blue seas. In those places
he discovered and created new sounds, melodies and rhythms that melted
together create soundscapes for escape."
The first release is an album on Eclipsemusic that was also played live by him (just
with hardware) at Club To Club in Turin, one of the most representative festivals in
Italy. Following this concept in 2014 he founded his own intimate imprint Shaded
Explorations, released the second album on Silent Season and an ep on Kabalion
(Hypnus parent label).
With his projects, he played at Tresor (DE), Le Batofar (FR), The Frag (ITA), Fiese
Remise (DE), Griessmuehle (DE), Tribal (UK), Sala X (SPA), BHo! (ITA), and other
parties, clubs and festivals like Club 2 Club, iClaut, Homepage etc.

Welcome to the 116th chapter of the Deep Electronics Podcast. This weeks set is mixed by Swedish DJ Eyvind Blix. 

Introduction:

Eyvind Blix is a Stockholm-based producer and DJ, who released his first ep through Physical Techno Records early this March.

Three years ago he moved to Stockholm and it didn't take long until he discovered the underground scene and great clubs such as "The Office". It opened the door to techno he had never heard before.

After winning a web-based DJ competition by "Parklife" he got invited to play at his first open-air party and later, several other underground clubs invited him to play.

Eyvind views DJing cinematically: "I build my scenery purposefully; I fill it with rhythm, atmosphere and dark industrial sounds. It's like building a puzzle, each track has it's own part in completing it. If you place your pieces right it will give the audience a complete, organic and pulsating experience. For me Techno is about limbos, matras, weird rythms and sounds, being in that will take me to a deeper level of consciousness".

Deep Electronics Podcast # 116 - Eyvind Blix

Was einst im Wohnzimmer des gebürtigen Sangerhäuser's als Liebelei mit dem schwarzen Gold und entsprechender Technik begann, ist seit den letzten 17 Jahren zu seiner Passion geworden. Experimentierfreudig gestaltet er seine Sets jedes mal neu und begeistert die tanzende Meute durch seine Performance.

Inspiriert durch den Sound von Kleinschmager Audio, Dapayk und Heinrichs & Hirtenfellner perfektionierte und spezialisierte der gebürtige Sachsen-Anhalter seinen Style und entwickelte das Gefühl und nötige Gespür, das seine Sets so einzigartig macht. 

Neben Clubauftritten in deutschen Großstädten und im europäischen Ausland, wie der Schweiz, begeistert Jens immer wieder auf's Neue bei Festivals wie dem Helene Beach Festival oder dem Sterne und Bass Open Air, um nur einige zu nennen. Er spielte regelmäßig in Berliner Clubs - wie dem Sisyphos oder Tresor.

Seit 2006 produziert er eigenhändig Tracks. Mit Veröffentlichungen wie Leave the Dream, Do Not Stand, Panopal, Back Again, Funny Face, Notion, machte er auf sich aufmerksam. Die 2015 erschienene Super EP, in Zusammenarbeit mit Alfred Heinrichs, war wochenlang ganz oben in den Beatportcharts vertreten. Nebenher widmet er sich zahlreichen Remixen. Mit seiner Musik möchte Jens die Menschen begeistern und ihnen ein unvergessliches Vergnügen auf der Tanzfläche bereiten. Neben dem Suicide Circus in Berlin konnte er in zahlreichen Clubs in ganz Deutschland das Feiervolk für sich gewinnen.

Auch in diesem Sommer ist er wieder ein fester Bestandteil des Helene Beach Festivals und wird 2016 mit diversen Releases, erneut seine Fans begeistern. Jens Lewandowski war über 4 Jahre festes Mitglied der Supdub-Crew Berlin und wird seit 2016 von der Künstleragentur Musikalische Feinkost® vertreten.Tracklist:

1. Hey ihr 2 - hier könnte jetzt eure Biografie oder auch ein cool formulierter Pressetext von euch stehen, steht aber nicht ;) Wie würdet ihr einen dieser beiden Punkte in nur einem zusammenhängenden Satz formulieren?

Mit Techno in all seinen Facetten herangewachsene Herzblutmusiker aus dem Berliner Umland.

2. Wann hattet ihr eigentlich euer erstes Mal? Ähm besser gesagt in welcher Situation habt ihr das erste Mal bewusst an einem Mischpult gestanden?

Wir beide haben im selben zarten Alter von 15 Jahren angefangen aufzulegen. Allerdings sind da ein paar Jahre dazwischen, weil wir unterschiedliche Jahrgänge sind.

3. Wo hat für euch Musik ihre Grenzen?

Kulturell hat Musik keine Grenzen. Das wäre auch fatal, weil Musik das Einzige auf der Welt ist, was jedes erdenkliche Gefühl im Zuhörer auslösen kann. Die immer stärkere Kommerzialisierung der elektronischen Musik ist aber auf jeden Fall für uns eine Grenze, die wir nicht überschreiten möchten.

4. Wie würdet ihr eure Musik charakterisieren?

Man hört in unseren Produktionen und auch in unseren Set's sehr stark wir herkommen. Da wir die Minimal Welle in vollem Umfang von Anfang an miterlebt und bestritten haben, sind wir musikalisch in dieser Ecke zu finden. Aber bitte jetzt nicht die Minimal Charts bei Beatport hören - das ist nämlich ganz weit weg von dem, was
es mal war, was es sein sollte und was es auch auszeichnet.

5. Was denkt ihr, wie findet die Musikindustrie Talente?

Es ist oft Zufall: Der richtige Sound an der richtigen Stelle zum richtigen Moment. Unser erstes Release auf Moonplay Records entstand jedenfalls so. Aber wie das bei den Big Playern funktioniert, möchten wir uns glaube auch gar nicht genau vorstellen :)

6. Welche Rolle spielt Performance-Musik heute? Bzw. welche Rolle spielt sie für euch?

Das kommt auf die Definition von einem selbst an, denn letzten Endes sind wir Entertainer. Wie das „Entertainment-Programm“ vonstatten geht, ob ich dabei nen großen Mickey Mouse Kopf aufhabe oder nackte hinter dem Pult stehe oder halt auch einfach nur die Musik für sich sprechen lasse, ist glücklicherweise jedem selbst überlassen. In den Zeiten wo DJing aber immer leichter wird, sollte man schon drauf achten, dass man nicht Jogi-Löw-Style in der Nase bohrt während des Set's.

7. Was sind eure 3 häufigsten Gedanken beim spielen bzw. wenn ihr gerade auflegt?

Christian - "Heute läuft's" "Ich brauche was zu trinken" " Wo ist die Zeit schon wieder
hin"
Stefan - " Nicht verreißen" "Vielleicht kommt der nächste DJ nicht und wir können länger machen" " Trinken ist schon wieder alle"

8. Thema DJs und ihre gewissen Markenzeichen ... welches ist eurer
Markenzeichen?

Uns gibt es ausschließlich im Doppelpack. Ich weiß aber nicht, ob das wirklich ein Markenzeichen ist. Sollten wir uns eins zulegen? Krasse Lasershow, Puppentheater, Roller-Disko - that´s it. Danke für die Inspiration :)

9. Habt ihr schon mal was von den 12 klassischen DJ-Posen gehört?

Ja, na klar. Wir würden uns irgendwo zwischen dem Pointer und dem Cowboy einordnen xD.

10. Viele Wege führen ja bekanntlich nach Rom, welchen Weg werdet ihr weiterhin für eure Zukunft einschlagen?

Man sagt auch, der Weg ist das Ziel. Welcher Weg das sein wird, möchten wir nicht festlegen. Frei nach dem Motto: Allet kann, nüscht muss. Wir arbeiten sukzessive weiter im Studio und auf der Bühne und freuen uns über jede Möglichkeit, unsere Musik in die Welt zu tragen. Achso und Rom soll nicht das Ende sein danach geht es
auf jedenfall noch weiter.

About Binary Thoughts:

The name Binary Thoughts may speak for itself, but there is a much deeper meaning embedded within.

The ancestral way of thinking has always been 'binary'. In order to understand reality in all its complexity we made a world of oppositions (day/night, man/woman). Where the law of "all or nothing rules, there is no in-between. But reality is indeed always more complex and richer than what our 'perception' of the world suggests.

This perception beyond this ìall or nothingî connected Ana Bogatinovska and Jovana Gjorgievska. At first strangers to each other, they met at a music festival in their native country; And after a long discussion about electronic music, they've decided to make a project that will connect their slightly different but similar taste in electronic music.

Their dark, unpredictable, underground techno and electronic sounds, evident in their DJ sets, reflects the uniqueness of their one of a kind 'binary' sound, able to take you from darkest corners to the deepest and most colorful nebuale of the universe.

Currently they are exploring the vast horizons of techno music and improving their performance skills, with an aim to create their own unique blend of creativity to start producing music on their own.

Billie Jo is an artist on the rise that has made a big splash in the Swedish underground scene during the last year. Her dark and rhythmic yet playful techno never fails to enchant the crowds and take them on an energetic and pounding musical journey. 
Her first solo release dropped this April on the Stockholm based label Street Life Rhythm. Billie Jo is a member of the underground collective .WAV and resident DJ at Rottweiler in Gothenburg. 
She recently played at Tresor New Faces and earlier this year she was awarded an Elly for ”New Female DJ of the Year” at the Elly Underground Awards in Stockholm.

Originally from Berlin, Vicky Zissou has now become an essential part of the Swedish techno scene. "French artist Cavüm is delivering a brilliant deep techno EP called Memoirs for our 10th release. 

Mixing ambient to rawer techno, this EP is the mirror of his love for both side of electronic music. Inspired by natural sounds, synthesis exploration, recordings ... he succeeds to mix that all together to offer a deep and smooth rhythmic trip.
In addition, Vardae already known from Allegorythme, reworked the track Cords in his proper way. A slow and very rhythmic vibe making the difference and perfectly completing this EP. 

On top of that, you can contemplate the beautiful artwork made by Thomas Le Mouroux experimenting 3D visuals."

Blurry as the night and bright as the stars Mäteriet joins the fray by levitating into the system. They open their gem-covered robe and reveal all the treasure collected throughout their many journeys. The Hon (A1) sets the mood just right alluring us into an almost hypnotized mindset. Moniker (A2) extends the grip Mäteriet has taken around us further over a rumbling bass fit for the system we traverse. Rolling Thud (B1) gives off an almost machine-like air around it, hissing and blowing off excess steam while moving seamlessly between syncopated rhythms. Shine Grooves Acoustic Remix (B2) opens up to a link to the outer reaches of space for B1 and lets Mäteriets work sing, in their own words “my synthesizer and sequencer painted this picture”... and oh what a pretty picture they have painted for us.

Eyvind Blix, a techno artist and producer originally from Sweden, is a musical phenomenon. He is blessed with the rare ability to utilize the entire sonic spectrum in his musical explorations, fusing hypnotic sonic texture with elements of darkness; he creates illusions, distorts perceptions, shakes realities. 

He invokes feelings of contradiction, first luring the listener into a place of dreamlike bliss, then forcing them into a surreal darkness where all notions of space and time are lost. These two contradictory strands of his weave together to form a dramatic, transcendent whole.
