This record is about hard sadness and of heartbreak imbued with the humble expressions of the indescribable beauty of this existence which rings true through all of it, for all time. 

Musically, I am compelled toward long-form live improvisations that go on for 20-30 minutes. I then edit and manipulate and polish, carving and sculpting over and over, long days often for months on an album until it becomes a truer version of itself that was not there at conception. Much like life! I then pick the best section for the songs that infer their own structure. Also included on this album are short-form telescopic soundprints where I use a dronier and more layered approach. 

Some very personal meditations make up tracks 5 and 7 and 9 of Homeworld. During a very hard and also heart-breaking beginning to the New Year of 2020 (even before the pandemic!) I recorded the pieces Sadness Too Deep and Ode to Scotty allowing the expressions of both the pain and the beauty which rang so true then, still and always. Supporting the song Ode to Scotty is a long field recording I captured in our apple orchard on the afternoon of March 3, 2020, a full moon with very heavy grey weather. Soon afterwards came the very bad news. Two days later the music was improvised while meditating with these creatures’ songs and was originally a seventeen minute piece. 

Yes. Nature sounds. I am 100% addicted. Waters. Melodic winged-ones. Insects. So cliché and yet it melts my soul good. I love manipulating the recordings into a designed sound sometimes. In consort with the music it just puts me in a trance: when I am playing, when I am editing and afterwards as a listener! The combination of the piano-centric sounds and the earth samples can make one think of the new age style but these are very deliberately poised away from such deliberations to keep something I cannot put my finger on; perhaps a shying away from rhythm or repetitions; rather more like water flowing, moving over rocks; not as a clock ticking or a song singing. The exception is a new color appearing as Emerald Nymphs; this Hipnotic Earth composition uses tempo and bass and drum with inferred and sparse effects, a style I will be expanding with. The older Lakeboat is included here, another strangely hypnotic track whose call for the light of day is answered in Homeworld. I can listen to this track forever, it does something to me. I hope it does to you, too.

"MüSzi was a co-working space at he the border of the center, at the last floor of an old building that was hosting the carcass of what once used to be a shiny mall.  A space big enough to give shelter to the repeatedly chased away underground tribes of the city. 
We had rented one of the spaces available and opened what slowly became a studio, an office, a second home, a concert or rearsal room. Sometimes a bedroom. 
A creative, vibrating hub at the core of MüSzi, generating a wide magnetic field that kept creative people in orbit around it, playing music and experiencing its power. 

Visionary Mind Lab was pulsating loud, day and especially night. 

We threw a few events at MüSzi main hall too: on March 12, 2016, The Lab joined into a few hours long jam session. We dusted off the recording and after 4 years we decided to release a part of it to celebrate those times. The space had to close, our lab shut its doors and a lot of energy got dispersed. This recording will help us not to forget too much."

Neglect (Tucson-based artist and musician Joseph Valentino) is an ambient music project that chronicles the beauty of the American Southwest and Pacific Northwest with sparse, elliptical melodic fragments on guitar and synths. Influenced by sources as diverse as dub, detroit techno, 90's IDM, and abstracted sound art, Valentino's music mines the deep emotional resonance and meditative quality of the endlessly repeating ostinato melody, like Wolfgang Voight's Gas project, Stars Of The Lid, and William Basinski.

2009-2019 : Space mixes # 1 to 9. In 2009, I started mixing live ambient sets at my radio show, each saturday afternoon in Québec city. I don't think more than 6 people were listening (including my GF at that time) but later on, in 2011, I published the first one on Soundcloud : Space III. Now after 30 000 plays of them, I decided to make a best of mixing the best of them. The result is a spaced-out mix that might seriously soothe your mind & body. Modern science is not at all as difficult and as perfect as scientific propaganda wants us to believe. A science that insists on possessing the only correct method and the only acceptable results is ideology and must be separated from the state, and especially from the process of education. One may teach it, but only to those who have decided to make this particular superstition their own. On the other hand, a science that has dropped such totalitarian pretensions is no longer independent and self-contained, and it can be taught in many different combinations. 

Such special ideologies, such special skills have no room in the process of general education that prepares a citizen for his role in society. A mature citizen is not a man who has been instructed in a special ideology, and who now carries this ideology with him like a mental tumour, a mature citizen is a person who has learned how to make up his mind and who has then decided in favour of what he thinks suits him best. He is a person who has a certain mental toughness and who is therefore able consciously to choose the business that seems to be most attractive to him rather than being swallowed by it.
