Today we have a special session by the experienced Italian artist Filippo Scorcucchi, part of the LF58 duo with Neel, he sent us a hybrid mix where he is playing with turntables and his well-known modular synth. An abstract experience immersed in the ambient and experimental sound for the next 50 minutes, it has no waste!

For CoziMix 09 we welcome Prague based legend, patricccio! 
Born and raised in Monterrey, Mexico, where his interest in sound first sparked from his brother, who’s a great musician and film scorer. After moving to Prague in 2016, his interests deepened further, as the local music scene inspired him to learn how to DJ. At the same time he became involved in other related fields, working as a lighting designer for Kave in 2020, and he continues to create light installations for here and there. He tends to dive into tribal and trippy genres, often full of bassy, deep, and percussive sounds. But always with unexpected twists.

1. How and why did you get into producing / dj’ing?


12 years ago a friend of mine was getting rid of this tiny pioneer controller and he ended up giving it to me. Wasn’t very consistent until around 2018-2019. The scene in Prague provoked in me an endless desire and curiosity to dive into this world. 


2. Who, What/where was your most coziest gig you've been to or experienced and why?


Those endless Claudio PRC’s residency nights at Ankali (2017-2018) with incredible guests such as Jane Fitz and Wrong Assessment. Sounds I never heard before. But most recently a night that I will never forget is Amphibian x Deviant party. With sounds I never experienced in the club before… local artist Atch22 blew my mind plus the headliners Amor Satyr and Siu Mata. Hypnotizing in a different way.


3. Do you consider yourself an introvert or extrovert in the industry?


Definitely an extrovert, very outgoing. Of course, like everyone, I need space and time for myself. I deal with a lot of people since I mainly work at the bar in the club (Ankali, Prague). 

4. If you had to choose 1 track to vibe out too forever, what would it be?

5. What is your routine when preparing for a gig / production/writing session? Do you have any special remedies/ mental/physical prep/ places to go to? :)

I put together playlists and listen to them constantly (every goddam day), add and get rid of stuff everyday. I filter it one last time before actually organizing it on rekordbox. Play the tracks for a bit, and I’m good to go.

It’s a true pleasure to welcome @sub-accent to our podcast series. The Accents Records label boss, and exquisite producer, has created a platform for experimentation and deep listening in the past couple of years, and we hope he won’t ever stop. Johan Bonnefoy, his real name, works mainly with hardware and a modular system, oscillating between ambient, industrial, techno and electronic experiments. With appearances on One Instrument, KVLTÖ Records, Cellar Door and many other impressive labels, he has created a remarkable discography throughout the years. 

Johan’s mix is one that keeps you on the edge of your seat, starting with drone-like soundscapes and guiding us through worlds of downtempo and experimentation. We had this mix on repeat the past couple of days, and we’re proud to release it. Thank you so much Johan!

Milan-based Lamusa II is an Italian musician, producer and DJ who represents expertise in meticulously crafted moody, leftifield electronics, often packaged in an adventurous melting pot of styles. His fluidity as a producer is well exhibited on his recently released album DON’T on Jay Glass Dubs’ label Extended Techniques, where various musical collaborations come together in a trip-hop infused work dripped in poetry and sensuality. The 60's were a good era for 'psychedelic' music - at least, this is what's said. Allow me some visual clanging and flip that 6 to a 9 and talk about the Seattle 90's, also effluent in the 'psychedelic':

"I’ve been listening to old Nirvana bootlegs. I can say my music is influenced by the smashing of instruments at the end of their gigs. Each one is a unique orchestration but within a structure until it exhausts itself. It’s not random or just noise. There is a timing and build of tension. It is even more dramatic to only hear it rather than to watch it.

Kurt Cobain used to make music by surfing the radio and piecing it together with no editing, like early musique concrete collages. He had an old cassette recorder where you have to push the record and play buttons together and then push pause. You can hear the clicks, the getting up to speed..."*
