ALL OF THE BENEFITS OF THIS RECORD WILL GO TO Liaison Antiiprohibitionniste (www.laliaison.org), an association for people affected by drug policies. It brings together those who are confronted with the problems caused by the prohibition of certain drugs. All are convinced, from their experience, of the need to implement an alternative policy to prohibitionism.

On the A side we have 2 tracks from Casablanca-born but now Brussels (!!!) based Driss Bennis aka OCB aka Dj.Booth from the now already legendary Moroccan label Casa 

Voyager. The first track is a proper banger for the peak time hours of the after hour, while the second track on the A-side is a broken beat stepper like only he can make. Keep the funk alive Driss and welcome to Brussels!

On the B-side are 2 tracks by Basic Moves’ own Walrus dating from 8 years ago coming from a lost demo asked by a big UK label but that never left his hard drive. B1 was made barefoot and is heavily inspired by early Omar S and the rougher sounds of US house. And the B2 is an ode to the city he loves and hates at the same time. “Free city light” between a smile and a tear. Brussels.

Capturing the spirit that underlies dance music in its various forms; the atmosphere of the early raves; the carefree attitude; the lack of prejudices both on the stage and on the dancefloor; the ecstatic moments shared with strangers from all walks of life, united together by the primordial force called the rhythm. Faciendo have been sharing this ethos with the world for many years, moved by the one and only endless energy which is the love for music. It comes then as the next natural step forward, the creation of a label through which to continue this mission.
 
For the first release, Scott Featherstone provides two original productions that pervade exactly by the same values and feelings that move Faciendo, carrying the zeitgeist of the early days of dance culture, untouched, into this millennium. This debut EP, “Vinaloop”, does exactly that, the title track is an energetic and upliftinging dance floor hammer, ode to the original summer of love with its positive and spiritual attitude. On the flip side finds the sublime and emotive “Lifeflows” another long lost gem found on DAT by Scott recently, it sounds like an early slice of electronic detroit soul, but true to Scotts energetic style, always with the right elements to move a dance floor. Completing the EP is a lush grooving remix from man of the moment Taylor Freels, aka Urulu and Liquid Earth.

Percebes starts 2021 by releasing the label honcho’s brand new “Gestures Of Release” LP: a highly personalised universe that manages to display diversity whilst retaining a unique sense of coherence. An offering of tracks that reflect the producer’s unique take on languages he knows well: deep, crunchy  disco house (“Miles Away”),  dreamy downtempo (“Suave”) and mellow freestyle funk (“Membrana”). Of course there are also plenty of irresistible bumping dance floor moments of classic inspiration (“Gestures Of Release”, “Clone Forge” and the bass heavy “Time Apart”). 

Guests include funk band Thunder & Co, legendary junglist producer AL:X, fellow Percebes founder Hélder Russo and Chicago new school gold medalist Andrew “Change Request” Emil. The quality in production, mixing and mastering is second to none. It’s an LP that plays and sounds as close to a maxi single as physically possible! Perfectly crafted tracks that a DJ can use on both dance floors and cooler settings alike, but also, an album that any music lover can enjoy on a proper turntable. Quoting Vito Corleone, it’s “an offer you can’t refuse”.

The vinyl comes with bonus music in its digital counterpart (includes full length album with four extra tracks as a free download with purchase). Overall, great bang-for-the-buck pack full of future classics, as usual with Percebes so far. “Gestures Of Release” will be out in April 2021.
