It's not often that acts become cult label favourites after just one release but Croquet Club is one such outfit. Heavily influenced by the likes of Air and Bonobo, Croquet Club's fresh take on electronica has already earned support from the likes of Zane Lowe and B. Traits, as well as tastemaker blogs Line Of Best Fit and Indie Shuffle.

The debut Croquet Club release "Awake" / "Cardigan" opened "Anjunadeep 05" and went down as an instant label classic. In the months since then he has remixed one of dance music's biggest acts, Mat Zo, and finished his sophomore release, the Jacuzzi EP.

Lead track "Jacuzzi" sets the tone for a unique and experimental release. Spanning moments of slo-mo electronica before moving into more energetic territory, the track not only demonstrates Croquet Club's talent for melodic inventiveness, but also features his own vocals, which combine with soaring pads in an anthemic climax.

Reminiscent of last year's "Awake", the infectious "Rush" features the kind of deft melodic textures, vocal sampling and washing atmospherics that are quickly becoming a Croquet Club trademark.

"Breath" takes a more stripped back approach, building on a delicate percussive groove with his own swirling vocals and soft rising melody. Huge, warm bass notes and a guitar riff inject energy into this multi-layered to magical effect, as things advance to a cascading crescendo.

Croquet Club - Breath

In the first track, 'Faces On My Dreams', he teams up with Ra ( Raul Contreras Torres ) and comes up with a dreamy and floating piece of Electronica. It has that soothing and relaxing atmosphere about it, making it an awesome tool for after hours or a living room, you choose.

Filled with flurries of emotionality and moments of escalating intensity, radioshow #035 plunders the airwaves with much poise and deep house precision.

Gracing your ears are tunes from Guy Mantzur & Sahar Z, Ripperton, Finnebassen and Rashid Ajami. The last three tracks however, are all recent Steyoyoke tracks. As a blogger and hopeless music addict, I spend endless fruitful hours scouring the vast reaches of the internet in search of magic... on a quest for the next goosebump-inducing melody, a new catchy earworm, or an addictive-to-sing vocal hook. I hunt music that suits my emotional needs, music I can feel, and relate to. My efforts reward me with the soundtrack to my daily life, and the collection of treasures I amassed, a reflection of myself. This podcast is a medley of tracks that, for whatever unique reason, grabbed me at the time that we happened to cross paths, and suited my mood at the time of making the podcast, which happened to be melancholic... with a tinge of darkness.

I make these for myself, but if you happen to enjoy it, that's cool too. :)

You may have heard “Snowflake” on Alex Niggemann’s Snowbombing podcast, “The Sky” in Hernan Cattaneo’s Podcast 186, or “Flying” in Dave Seaman’s Radio Therapy October.

This incredibly awesome podcast progresses perfectly as a journey into deeper and darker, almost sinister depths, commencing with a subtly foreboding Middle-eastern sounding rhythm before descending into thick moody vibes… then, halfway in, things take a turn towards dark and ominous techno, heavily brooding over forcefully driving beats.

As a pianist since age 5, and professor of music theory and saxophone player from 18 onward in Paris, the influence of French producer Mashk's extensive musical background is pervasively evident in his melodic approach to dance music. Right at home on Solee's label Parquet of Germany (one of our favourites), he has woven such gorgeous and emotive tracks like "Home" and "Last Breath," and more recently has released his debut 17-track album, the aptly-named "Melodies."
