Transient London Showcase - 06.12.22

The functional biosphere complex, founded in the first century of the modern era, is one of the outstanding monuments of proto-architecture. The renovation made it possible to use the lobby to commemorate the most exceptional sound enthusiasts. The main stage is surrounded by lotuses that embody the image of rebirth and the fundamental nature of being. The winner of the current ceremony is Alessandro Crimi. He converts his noteworthy word into the mouthpiece from the era that holds the secrets of worlds sunk into oblivion. Pablo Bolivar, the mysterious Yaleesa Hall and Malin Genie have also received awards for their significant contributions to the study of electronics.

We are pleased to present our first episode of Re-Leaf radio with the very talented E-Talking hailing from Berlin, Germany.

E-talking has been one of our favourite artists for a hot minute as he encapsulates what Re-Leaf is about. Creating the perfect balance of old school and new in all of his mixes and productions, we're honoured to him as our first guest. He really brought the heat with this mix full of high energy and carefully curated, spanning across house, progressive and techno.

One half of French duo Nummer alongside long-time friend and partner-in-crime
Silvère Letellier, Emmanuel Corre has recently begun a new chapter in his musical
career under the moniker of E-Talking. Inaugurating that new path, his debut
instalment as E-Talking came through the high-flying Blue Series of London's finest,
AD93.
Released as a split in 2018, “Téléphone Rose” marked a shift from Nummer’s

compositions but no betrayal towards their respective aspirations. A full-fledged left-
of-centre club weapon designed to swash in the club with unrelenting novelty effect,

the track makes for a ravishingly disparate patchwork of Emmanuel’s influences,
from blazing, acid-informed electronics to bassy deconstructionism, via revamped
house and techno tropes.
Emmanuel’s formative years at London’s reputed record store, Kristina Records,
helped him forge the distinctive, all-embracing approach that can be felt through his
sets and material, as made further obvious on his maiden full-length from 2021 for
Going Good, “Techno Man’s Land”.
Mapping his own route at large from normative barricades, the E-Talking project has
been gathering momentum with some choice contributions to the catalogues of
imprints as varied as Early Reflex, Nerv, Nasty Enterprises and Chanoirs. In the
wake of his acclaimed two-year residency on Rinse France and in parallel to regular
appearances on HÖR, Emmanuel’s line of action is just about to reveal in all its
glorious scope and scale, so better keep your ear to the ground.

HiToshi, a DJ and vinyl enthusiast from Helsinki, has quickly gained recognition in the local music scene over the past five years.With an eclectic vinyl collection and a fluid approach to DJing, he brings a unique blend of genres to his sets. In addition to his appearances at the Flow festival + holding a residency at the renowned club Kaiku, he contributes as a producer at IDA Radio Helsinki, supporting the local community from grassroots level. 

And what a classy mix did he provide! Smoothly shifting between raw house, disco and acid - it's safe to say HiToshi embodies the Helsinki music community's spirit, encouraging openness to diverse musical experiences on the dancefloor. Rightly so, he's gaining more and more international attention, an upcoming EU tour and appearance at HÖR being concrete examples of the quality of his craft.

There’s something uniquely grounding about a conversation with someone like Enzio Etchaberri. The type of person who finds joy in the act of digging, discovering, and sharing music with the world. As a DJ, music producer, and programmer for one of Berlin’s most iconic clubs Enzio carries a deep respect for the roots of electronic dance music. All the while keeping an eye on its evolving future. Whether locked in his Lichtenberg studio or playing in the thick of Berlin’s nightlife his approach feels thoughtful, deliberate, and intensely human.

Thinking back to a fall morning last year in Sisyphos’ Wintergarten I can’t help but smile. It was one of those often times rare instances when everything – the music, the colors, the energy – came together to remind you why we gather in these spaces. No phones, no rush.

It’s those moments that Enzio seems to understand so well, and it’s exactly why I’m excited to share this conversation and the his wonderful mix with to you, our listeners!

"So the mix, can you tell us a little something about that? 

Lately, I’ve been drawn to rolling tech-house from the ‘90s and early 2000s. There’s something about the way they lock into a groove that somehow feels timeless. So there’s a few records with that theme in the mix along with more house and melodic-heavy cuts.

I really enjoy the dynamic and contrast blending genres and old & new tracks to create these shifts in energy with a sense of push and pull. Around 29mins in you can hear an upcoming release of mine 🙂 "

Anna Kohlin has been shaping Stockholm’s underground from the inside. A long-time fixture behind decks and party lineups she sure knows how to read a room and flip it.

Her sets splice 90s house, tech-house, and breaks with newer oddities. Her approach is as precise as it's loose but never too clean. Expect gear shifts not gradients.

If you’ve danced at Stockholm venues such as Under Bron, NEU or anywhere slightly off-grid, you’ve likely caught her in her element.

As a producer, she’s released on Slump Recordings, Dirty Hands, KMA60, and Makemake Tapes. Her label, Inside Out, leans on the sound of the underground with cuts from Basement Space, Baby Rollén, Eric OS and herself.

Prolific remixer, versatile producer & a well-respected DJ, Simbad (aka SMBD) is a stalwart of the underground music scene in UK & has had a very fertile career so far.

Because of his vast arrays of releases, it’s very hard to put him into any box or music category although as the Frenchy says himself, it's all about soul in all forms & shapes. And timelessness.

Since his 2007 album Supersonic Revelation & his worldwide acclaimed dancefloor hit Soul Fever, Simbad has been constantly traveling the five continents entertaining delighted clubbers with his super energetic dj skills or producing and recording various artists from many different genres including deeper Dubstep don Mala (DMZ), UK Hip Hop star Roots Manuva, Cuban songstress Dayme Arocena, Detroit House producer Kai Alce, Berlin-based deep Techno artist Fred P,  Seun Kuti from Afrobeat’s most famous family, Brazilian superstar artist/actor Seu Jorge and being production mentor for the king of cool, radio DJ Gilles Peterson (who made him one of the residents at his Worldwide Festivals).
