The background for the inspiration of course is Homer and the tales on the Trojan war. But Kassandra does not tell a story – it’s a kind of a painting with an ancient scenery or maybe just a sketch: Kassandra in front of the burning city. And it could be a modern painting. We are in a distance of more than 3.000 years to the plot of the ancient tales – and still mankind has Kassandras and tears in front of burning cities.

Working on Kassandra i had in mind from the beginning that Cindy will take the main voc in this song. So i wrote the harmonies and the song structure with that in mind and i love how she sings the song. Kassandra also includes a few notes played with a Greek Baglamas and helps the song to get a special note. This string instrument is the small sister of a Bouzouki.

The Thing that She Pour

When I first listened to Lisha's this work, I was completely fascinated by it. I think the vocals, lyrics, composition, and performance are all excellent, and the balance between them is wonderful.When I suddenly returned to myself, I was holding my Les Paul, and have started recording with it.

The original work released by Lisha can be thought of as a completed "acoustic version".If I think the purpose of adding and releasing my guitar playing to it is to promote and disseminate the existence of that wonderful "acoustic version".

＊If you are practicing playing the guitar, please use it to master the performance of "C # m Pentatonic Scale".I think there are several ways to practice playing the guitar with this song, this time I mainly played and recorded it using the "C # m pentatonic scale".

If the foundation is neglected, there will be no future development. Those who neglect their proficiency in the pentatonic scale and act as if they have mastered not only the pentatonic scale but also the blues scale will most hope that listeners will misunderstand that their guitar playing is good. .. It's a very dangerous adventure.

I eagerly want anyone to get out of that dangerous situation as soon as possible.Any guitar player who hasn't mastered it can't get out of the "beginner". I think.

The guitar playing that I layered on the original sound source is very simple. Some may say it's too simple.However, it doesn't make any sense to crush the sound of vocals and other instruments to make only the sound of the guitar.

There is no guitar solo in this attempt, and I didn't play the chords and tried to accompaniment phrases. This is because it is meaningless unless the listener can easily listen to vocals and other performances. Therefore, I think it is easier to practice the scale using the guitar.

There are quite a few artists I would like to collaborate with someday. Lisha has long been one of the representatives, and I have long waited for the opportunity to come. Recently, I have actually had the opportunity to dramatically improve the collaborative environment. Even with an already completed sound source, it is impossible to completely separate it for each instrument, but now it is possible to separate files into several major parts. 

In this work, even if the volume is set a little louder to maintain the sound quality of the guitar, the vocals are cut out from other parts, so the volume and sound quality of the vocals could be sufficiently maintained. That is one of the major backgrounds that made it possible to release this recording
(I've uploaded a version here that matches the genuine Apple earphones for the iPhone, so  it's a good idea to set up an equalizer for your listening environment).

Are You Human? (Simply A Machine)

“The Talented Miss K” is Skeleton Skies attempt at an ode to the lovesick, trying to imagine their sound closer to the pathos of an Arcade Fire song, having their go at twisting an old synths wrists to see if they can get something out of it resembling MGMT, creating a quirky, danceable song, in homage to some well loved heroes, while at the same time staying true to their very own understated, alt-pop approach.

The song was written while trying to console a good friend after a lengthy relationship ended in betrayal. Reflecting on the feeling of having the ground pulled from under your feet, simple arbitrary everyday moments suddenly being filled with meaning by a wounded mind and a kind of Weltschmerz paranoia setting in. Going on an emotionally excruciating journey, paying tribute to the monumental pain love is able to cause, the song is trying to round the corner to re-evaluate the situation as one of the many sides of life and pushing the friend towards catharsis and regaining his trust in love and life.

Due to the friend being a huge Peter Gabriel fan, the chorus bears a reference to “Solsbury Hill”, serving as an analogy for discovering a new beginning after a bitter end. There are also references to “It’s Amore” in the lyrics, trying to give the drunken, exhilarated, love-struck mind its gloomy counterpart. The title is referencing “The Talented Mister Ripley” as one of the friend’s grievances was that he felt ultimately the relationship had taken all that he had to offer, leaving him feel depleted and bereft of his former life.	 

The song will be released on 15th January 2021 and is part of 10 songs that will feature on Skeleton Skies' debut album "Contemporary Heart" that will be released on 29th January 2021.

This is a song of hope. I want to bring us together, to be open and inclusive, to get over the strident divisiveness of the past four years. If I could have a wish for this album, it would be to have people learn this song and sing it when they come together in a group for the first time. If the whole world could sing it and mean it, it would be my dream. Elyce says, "It's like an anthem."
