Dutch producer Ferreck Dawn and German mainstay Robosonic go head to head on their dancefloor smash 'In Arms'. A firm favourite with Low Steppa, Sam Divine, Franky Rizardo and the whole crew of residents when it was road-tested during the Defected Australia tour in early 2018, the thumping, bass-focussed track received a huge reaction from crowds with its tightly-harmonised earworm vocal. Certifying its place as a standout summer record, 'In Arms' has all the makings of a future Defected hit.

Toolroom are immensely proud to welcome the Chicago legend, Green Velvet, back to the label as he locks horns with Toolroom founder Mark Knight and studio partner, James Hurr, for ‘The Greatest Thing Alive’. A low slung, chunky affair that screams Miami Space terrace at 8am! Quirky, full of character and Green Velvets unmistakable vocal re-work of the classic ‘Mannish Boy’ from Muddy Waters pushes this record into a really special place.

Green Velvet debuted on the label back in 2015 alongside Technasia with ‘Suga’, a record that went onto to be an overall Beatport #1 and remained as their highest selling track for many years that followed, the track also sits on an impressive 9m streams.

The next artist stepping up to mix Defected’s coveted In The House series is Melé, a producer whose standout percussive sound and infectious energy behind the decks makes him one of the UK’s most captivating, flourishing DJs. From 13-year-old bedroom DJ growing up in the Wirral to his breakout tribal anthem ‘Ambience’ in 2015, Melé has now fully honed his skills in production and mixing, culminating in two mixes for ‘Defected presents Melé In The House’ and three brand new productions. Two of these original productions are included in this sampler, demonstrating what’s to come from the compilation.

With live percussion from drum warrior Shovell, the cover of ‘Pasilda’ pumps up the track’s unmistakeable rhythms and piano melody (recorded live by prolific record producer Fraser T Smith) with an irresistibly hefty bassline and vocal loops. A long-time highlight of Melé’s sets but until now unreleased, ‘Pasilda’ is an exclusive from the upcoming compilation. The aptly named ‘Brooklyn Bounce’ is Melé’s ode to Danny Tenaglia, a key influence whose sought-after percussive spirit is apparent throughout Melé's work. This sophisticated pumping house cut with plenty of signature layered percussion is the perfect set-up for the anticipated ‘Defected presents Melé In The House’.

Melé & Shovell ‘Pasilda’ (Extended Mix)

Italian DJ/producer Qubiko has recently been turning heads with his signature bouncing basslines and feel-good sound, remixing the likes of Sonny Fodera, Dennis Cruz and Joeski as well as releasing an impressive discography of his own material. Now, following on from the ‘These Days EP’ he released on Defected, Qubiko makes a stellar debut on DFTD, the label that brings you all things club inclined. Comprised of two tracks, ‘U R’ is an upfront delivery of house heat, with both cuts ready to set dancefloors alight this summer.

This is the last release for this year.
Claptone opened 2012 with the Beatport Top10 track 'Cream' which has become our most succesful tune on Exploited.

When Radio 1’s Danny Howard brought his Lockdown Linkup series to the world in 2020, he set about teaming up the world’s leading dance producers for a collection of very special collaborations. Among those set up by the series was long-time friend of Defected Dennis Ferrer and South London trio Disciples, making for a powerful but perhaps unexpected transatlantic partnership. With both artists boasting impressive accolades that include platinum-selling records as well as bona fide underground anthems, they enlisted the help of acclaimed songwriter James Yuill to create ‘Whisper’. With its ethereal vocal, atmospheric keys and memorable guitar strings, married together by a club-friendly bassline, it’s no surprise this exquisitely produced debut would catch the attention of Defected’s Simon Dunmore, who now gives the track a full release on the imprint.
