Electric Sewer Age’s »Contemplating Nothingness« is a lysergic tapestry culled from the deep end of the collective pop cultural unconscious. The project was originally started anonymously by the late Peter »Sleazy« Christopherson (of Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV and, most notably, Coil) together with Coil affiliate and seasoned remixer Danny Hyde, who continued the project together with John Deek, who passed away in 2013. »Contemplating Nothingness« is the third release by Electric Sewer Age and the second one that Hyde finished alone.

Hyde left his imprint on many of Coil’s seminal albums such as »Love’s Secret Domain«, coproduced Pop Will Eat Itself’s »Very Metal Noise Pollution« and remixed a diverse roster of artists such as Nine Inch Nails, Scorn, Chris & Cosey, Psychick Warriors Ov Gaia or Depeche Mode. With his work as Electric Sewer Age, he explores the vast open space between the dark psychedelic aesthetics that he has helped establishing together with John Balance and his longtime collaborate Christopherson with a postmodernist approach that is deeply rooted in studio practice and sampling.

On »Contemplating Nothingness,« disembodied voices mingle with subdued rhythms, muffled harmonies or menacing string themes. Over just a little bit more than half an hour, Hyde conjures up traditional and contemporary production techniques and genres like plunderphonics, Leyland Kirby’s V/VM project or early vaporwave, all while retaining his singular voice. Throbbing industrial gives way to jazz-inflected quasi-rap, autotune balladry and ethno ambient, before closing on eerily alienated synth pop sounds and a stunning exercise in psychedelic minimalism. »Contemplating Nothingness« is an album as surreal and beautiful as a half-remembered dream, constantly navigating through the liminal zone of the familiar and the great unknown.

Shards of glass lay across the street, twinkling like diamonds under the hot sun. The front windows of the bank were no more. Inside people cowered on the floor while the whirring sound of alarms pierced the air overhead. Pockets and bags full of cash and coins, the robbers clambered out of the window, making for their getaway vehicle. This was the only way of doing things, the only way they'd ever know. For them this was about survival.

After a brief hiatus Berlin-based label Malka Tuti return with a limited edition 7" release from an artist named Lena Muir, real name Bruno Deodato. With only one previous release under his belt for Eye for an Eye records, there's an air of mystery around this alias, however under the guise of Trikk, Bruno is well known for releases on the likes of Optimo, Innervisions, Drumcode and Pets Recordings. As Lena Muir his sound is wildly different. Taking cues from angsty post-punk and new wave, these two driving cuts are perfect for that next bank robbery turned car chase you're planning...

The trail through the jungle was covered with huge leaves and twisted branches that blocked their course. Every time a strange noise sounded they'd flinch or hastily look over their shoulder. All manner of dangerous animals lived in this place. They knew that as soon as the sun disappeared behind the trees that this journey would only become more treacherous. It was a race against time to make it back... 

2019 saw a string of accomplished releases from Berlin-based power couple Local Suicide, making homes on Lumiere Noir, Tusk Wax and Eskimo Recordings. Also known for their collaborations with Curses and Franz Matthews, the duo now join forces with Bavarian producer Kalipo for an EP on Audiolith sub-label Hold Your Ground. Featuring two original tracks, two remixes from Theus Mago - under his own name and his Bufi alias - plus another rework from Saint Petersburg's Radial Gaze, Crocodile/Dominator represents their fresh take on new wave and electronic sounds.

It’s only our 2nd release to date, but we’re already bringing you a release by a ‘mystery producer’.
 Based out of Dallas, Texas, with little online presence, Club Cab has remained somewhat of an enigma. His civilian work prevents him from sharing his music publicly, and not least due to the fact that his tracks are provocative old school electro inspired madness.
 But his secret persona should not fool anyone. His music sounds like it has been lifted from an old Databass Records or Dance Mania pressing. With pure raw energy aimed right at the dance floor, these 4 cuts are guaranteed to get those booties poppin'.
 We’re pumped to have him on board as our second release artist, and if you know what's up, you'll be sure to keep an eye on him, too.

It's amazing at how different 7uka and D'Cure's flips are while remaining totally relevant to the posse sound.  

Both are very pretty and nice sounding.  Like a wanderous tortoise, bathing himself in a floral pond to the beat of Mozart's symphany no. 40 in G Minor.

It’s not so long since we were blessed with “In A Huff” and “After My Bae”, and already Herr Meth is back to provide us with a third goldmine EP full of homemade bangers: “Lost My Meth”, this time with a slamming remix by his partner in crime DJ Frankie. 

Still as angry as ever, all efforts by the Brainwaves’ chain of command to keep the Meth under a semblance of stability have been absolutely fruitless, and when he is not busy pumping out bangers for the expectant masses, he spends his time with his mischievous and potentially imaginary alien friend Brian, dropping bombs in nightclubs and generally consuming inhuman quantities of illegal extra-galactic crystal substances.

Up next for our charity series 'International Chromies' we have a very dangerous 5 track EP from one of the sharpest electronic technicians in the kitchen 'Dagga' with his 'House Of Flying Daggers' EP.

Originally from Venezuela but now based in Bogotá, Dagga showcases his razor sharp ability to slice and dice a variety of flavours like Electro, Funk Carioca, Breaks & Techno with perfect precision on INTLCS002. Enlisting some help from the very talented DJ & Rapper 'DJ Fuckoff' who lays down some sweat drenched bars on 'Trick' the EP has all the serrated dance blades needed to cut through the most stubborn of dance floors.

With every Chromies release we like to ask our artist's which charity is closest to their heart and Dagga has chosen the Crisis in Yemen. So 100% of the profits from this release will be going to the International Rescue Committee (IRC) who are providing health, reproductive health nutrition, water and sanitation services to more than a quarter-million people. They also are delivering essential drugs and medical supplies to hospitals & training health staff on cholera treatment.
